in late January the world saw videos of overwhelmed hospitals in wuhan and people collapsing on the street

on January 23 China locked down a city of 11 million people

siguro naman that's a clear enough signal that something serious was going on

you don't lock down an entire city if it was just the seasonal flu

you don't need WHO to tell you that

    --

the US with all their intelligence capability didn't need WHO to advise them

they could have already known about pneumonia deaths in wuhan earlier than anyone

    --

    the US was simply complacent

SARS and MERS didn't affect them so akala nila di sila maapektuhan

the leadership didn't take it seriously

it's countries that had experience with SARS and MERS that took this seriously

Taiwan acted earlier than any other country

on Dec 31, 2019 Taiwan started inspecting inbound flights from Wuhan

    they didn't need WHO

Protecting the "rights" of Trump's voter base...

Even though there is a well known fact that mass gathering, especially of the religios kind contributed the explosive surge of cases...

    Don't blame Chayna for this...

U.S. Justice Department sides with church in COVID-19 religious dispute - Reuters

The Greenville dispute is one of several around the United States in which religious groups have objected to state or local restrictions on gatherings, saying they infringe on religious rights. Most houses of worship have voluntarily complied with shutdown orders, with some holding services online.

U.S. Attorney General William Barr said in a statement the Justice Department will work to uphold the constitutional right to freely practice religion as states and cities seek to contain the spread of the coronavirus by limiting worship services.

“The United States Department of Justice will continue to ensure that religious freedom remains protected if any state or local government, in their response to COVID-19, singles out, targets, or discriminates against any house of worship for special restrictions,” he said, referring to the globally pandemic disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

The Justice Department intervention follows a pattern in which the administration of President Donald Trump has sided with conservative Christians on various issues, including opposition to abortion rights and support of certain businesses which refuse service to LGBT people because of religious objections to gay marriage.

Drop in cellphone users in China wrongly attributed to coronavirus deaths- AP

A representative with China Mobile Ltd. said while the situation was related to the COVID-19 outbreak, it was not related to deaths, but changes in lifestyle.

“It was mainly due to reduced business and social activities resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak,” a spokesperson with the company confirmed to the AP. “Many customers in China have multiple SIM cards and it is common that they use their non-primary SIM cards to do these activities.”

A China Unicom representative acknowledged the difficult market forces at work: “For the first two months of 2020, while facing challenges such as market saturation, keen market competition and the novel coronavirus outbreak, the company upheld self-discipline on rational and orderly competition.”

So how will you explain the same US complacency from UK, Spain, Italy, France, Germany?
The bottom line is, WHO failed, instead of pressing the panic button, they took time depending why its too early to impose travel ban, that wearing face masks is not needed, and that covid19 is only a national health concern and not a pandemic.

If not for Taal eruption that we have to shutdown our airports we could have more infection than what we are seeing now.

Excuse ng CCP sa Wuhan urns...

China rejects claims of inaccurate coronavirus death tally in Wuhan | South China Morning Post

Asked on Wednesday about reports in China of thousands of funeral urns and long queues at funeral homes in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, ambassador Lu Shaye told French cable news channel BFM TV that while the coronavirus killed about 2,500 people in the city, roughly 10,000 others died of other causes.

“Funeral homes in Wuhan reopened on March 23,” Lu said.

“You saw a lot of people waiting in line because over the two months of lockdown in Wuhan, apart from the coronavirus deaths, there have been about 10,000 people who died of other reasons."

“We didn’t conceal death figures, and the numbers are accurate.”

If you treat news coming from US with a kilo of salt, you should treat news coming from China with tons of salt.

The world will be a fool if they still believe one word coming out of China.

If dealing with China will be business as usual after this, in 10 years another **** up will come out of China.
