Not everyone has the luxury to avoid going to work. I totally get that. But if you can avoid it, please do. Again, only if you can. I woke up to one horror story after another this morning and while it’s true that there have been a lot of lapses and inconsistencies and no shortage of people to blame for it, at this point, you really have to reframe the situation and ask how are you helping as an individual?

This is an unprecedented situation. There are bound to be hiccups, eff-ups, and general chaos simply because the government cannot cope with the surge. And I’m not taking a dig at them by saying that. It’s just fact. We’ve seen it worldwide. Even the most developed countries had issues. This is precisely what they are trying to avoid with our healthcare system.

There’s only a small window here. If we don’t do everything we can to flatten the curve NOW, we will totally overwhelm the system and our hallways of hospitals will end up looking like this. It’s not too late. But it’s getting there.

I know people are genuinely scared or anxious. But trust me, now is not the time to panic. Now is the time to do everything you can to comply. Because what you do NOW will have an exponential effect on the outcome—bad or good. Imagine the difference of trying to put out a fire that has just started compared to an hour from now. That’s the mindset you should have. Because that’s what we are dealing with.

So please support the stay at home movement for all NON ESSENTIAL interaction. We can do this. We just need to cooperate. We need to unite. We need to all do our bit. This is everyone’s responsibility. And it starts by sharing one united message. #flattenthecurve
I think somebody posted about “flattening the curb” here. And that literature is, if I read it correctly, advocating containment.

From what I've gathered, "flattening the curve" is not just about containment. It's also about social distancing and other measures to slow down, if not stop, the spread of the virus in a given society/country.

Well, Deakin, you can tell that to the Rappler writer who is complaining about the economic disruption caused by closing malls

basically flatten the curve is slowing down the rate of infection para hindi ma-overwhelm ang healthcare infrastructure

it doesn't say infections will be prevented

it basically says between-the-lines that sooner or later a lot of us are gonna get infected pero sana hindi sabay sabay

para hindi tayo sabay sabay lahat pumunta ospital

You said something like the “beloved president did not work to earn the trust of the people” or to that effect and cited some examples. That’s why I’m asking you now, is it not that SWS came out recently with a survey that this administration has a net satisfaction rating of excellent?

It seems that your view is diametrically opposed to SWS survey result.

SWS could have been mistaken and you are right.

    Right?

the death rate goes up really high when hospitals are overwhelmed

many of those who need to be in ICU can't get a room

those who need oxygen, those who need to be intubated...

kaya flatten the curve para di sobra dami tao sabay sabay

pero considering our hospital capacity, that curve should go way way down

coz our hospitals are already full

Everyone here in this forum, including Mr. Deakin, can afford to WFH, or not work at all for an extended period of time, I'd hazard to say. We should invite someone who is hand to mouth existence to share their perspective here to get a more balanced point of view. These hand to mouth people are also one of the most vulnerable at times like these, and the the government should exert every effort to see that their needs and concerns are taken cared of.

so hindi nga pwede total lockdown everybody-stay-at home sa atin

the gov't has to allow people to go to work parin

stores to remain open so people can buy groceries

pansin ko hindi coherent mga comments sa thread na ito recently

    naguguluhan mga tao

nag rereklamo sa ginagawa ng gobyerno, pero pag binigyan mo ng alternative di din pwede

Not necessarily am I saying I'm right and SWS is wrong. I'm just sharing my thoughts 1)why people don't trust this government and shouting out that this is a shade of martial law. 2) Why people are doubting that this will work (poorly planned).

Now if you're saying SWS survey says otherwise and I am wrong, then that's your opinion and I don't see why I have to add anything more, sir.

Why the travel ban is a joke...

9 cases from Japan yet NO travel ban or even a 14 day quarantine upon return....

Well government has the 4p's, maybe they can extend that to them also? Really don't know what will work or won't, but I'm just saying these people are also vulnerable and have to be considered in the overall balancing act scheme of things. Like I've said previously, this will be a balancing act between the economics of things ($$$$$) and the lives that need to be saved, and I don't envy the people tasked with doing that balancing act. They just have to get their act together because the way I see it, they're still talking and planning about what to do up to now.

Just a near-earth approach but China can command all 1B citizens to jump at the same time and spin the earth out of its orbit.

The current priority is to contain the virus! Walang ng iba! Kung kailangan I over ng govt yun daily wages ng mga daily workers gawin nila. Pag volunteering nila mag disinfect ng paligid then bayaran nila ng minimum. Basta dapat total lockdown na
