Toho University Professor Tateda Kazuhiro, on the government's coronavirus advisory panel, said the daily tally could reach the government's earlier projection of 450,000 nationwide. That's much more than the highest number in the pandemic's seventh wave last summer in Japan.

Tateda said the bed occupancy rates at his university's hospitals are rising, including seriously ill patients, due to the spike in the number of coronavirus cases.

He said frontline healthcare facilities are under increasing strain to prevent in-hospital infections, as many patients who had been hospitalized for other illnesses like strokes later tested positive for COVID-19.

The health ministry says it confirmed 456 coronavirus-related deaths nationwide on Friday, the highest single-day toll in Japan since the pandemic began. The previous record was 420 on December 29 last year.

The ministry also says the number of new cases amounted to 245,542 nationwide on the day.

Tateda warned that unless the rise in infections is curbed, more people may die given the overburdened hospital situation. He noted that a simultaneous outbreak of seasonal influenza is likely.

you don't hear other countries tightening restrictions on travelers from japan (or their own residents flying home from japan)

    puro china lang

andami pinoy nagspend ng xmas and new year's eve sa japan

practically the whole A/B socioeconomic class went to japan this holiday season and many are are still there

but you don't hear people say "baka may dala covid mga umuwi galing japan"

    -

yeah coz it's only people from china that can bring covid

the spanish flue of 1918 did not initiate from spain, nor was it worse in spain.
it was a worldwide event, a pandemic, but governments did not report it, because it was bad for business. remember that the world had just emerged from world war 1, and were just starting to pick up the pieces.
but the spanish government reported it had it, hence the name.

    if i have to guess.

media is propaganda tool of western governments and right now the enemy is china

goal is to sow hatred towards china with non-stop negative coverage

there's no need to cover the covid situation in japan coz japan is an ally

The restrictions, which require the test be taken within 72 hours prior to departure, have been implemented to halt the spread of highly transmittable strains of the coronavirus. But they are not mandatory for those flying in from Hong Kong or Macao.

All travelers from mainland China and those who have visited the country within seven days are now required to take a PCR or high-quality antigen test upon arrival in Japan.

nature is, by nature, intentionally stingy about giving up its secrets.
it would be to the detriment of the human race, if humen would do the same.

Kahit dito sa Tsikot, those clamoring for tighter entry procedures for Chinamen, they never ask for it from Japanese and Korean arrivals.

yes diba noong cold war russia is the enemy

in hollywood movies russians are always the bad guys

after the soviet union collapsed wala na enemy

    -

9/11 happened the US has a new enemy

the GWOT (global war on terror) replaced the cold war

sino bad guys in hollywood movies? muslim terrorists

    -

tapos na GWOT so the US needs a new enemy --> china

    -

A big country needs big enemies. The best enemy we ever had was the Soviet Union. Our fear of them unified our people. Gave us purpose. The problem today, John, is half the country thinks the other half is its enemy because they have no one else to fight. So... we gave them a real enemy.
