One of the reasons why private entities want to involve themselves in the procurement of vaccines is to ensure the safety of their employees & in effect, their businesses. They see that the Gov’t cannot do it themselves & it will take a LOT of time for the vaccines to reach their sector. Time lost which the economy cannot afford. Caveat, of course, is to split it with the Gov’t & the indemnification doesn’t cover their procurement.

I'd rather the mayors and other local leaders jump the line hindi tulad ng ibang mayors dyan na nakatago at takot sa COVID hindi na nagagawa maayos trabaho nila.

Saka sa kanila naman pinapasa yun trabaho ng covid ng inutil na national govt. Mag labas sila ng guidelines na open na lahat pero problema na ng mga Mayors kung pag dumamali case.

AstraZeneca Plc reported a slightly lower efficacy rate for its Covid-19 vaccine after the results of an American clinical trial were criticized as outdated, raising further questions over the controversial shot and whether it will be approved in the U.S.

The company said the shot was 76% effective in its U.S. trial in a statement on Thursday, after an independent monitoring board expressed concern that its previous disclosure of 79% efficacy relied on outdated information. The earlier reading was based on data gathered through Feb. 17.

don't get me wrong, I'm all for mayors getting vaccinated kasi nga sila talaga ang humaharap sa mga tao at sa tingin ko sila ang talagang nag trabaho nitong pandemic.

Ako naman, these mayors have to first prove they are frontliners through their deeds and actions and then they go through the proper process of getting the authorization/exemption to skip the line. In addition, they should also prove that there are no other medical frontliners/other frontlines in their area that needs the vaccine more. If they fulfill all these criteria, then by all means go for it and they will be lauded for it.

There is a problem when these mayors start pressuring the local workers there that they be given this CHINA WUHAN VIRUS vaccine first.

palakasan talaga dito.

nagtaka nga din ako bakit mga mayors eh nagpa vaccine, hindi naman sila HCWs. specific ang sinabi ng WHO about sa priority ng donated vaccine and hindi sila mauuna dun kahit na frontliner sila, parang nasa 4th yata sa list yun.

I am quite sure there are a lot more of those privileged few who has skipped the queue to get the vaccine. Yung mga mautak diyan won't post it in Socmed kasi alam nila na bawal at madami magagalit sa ginawa nila.

if it was sinovac being injected to them, they could always claim na ayaw na ng remaining HCW magbakuna sa sinovac and hinihitay yung Astrazeneca. kaysa masayang yung vaccine na bukas na, naghanap na lang sila ng ibang priority group na pwede for vaccination in such a short time. kailagan nila ubusin yung vaccine rather than ibalik pa sa provincial capital for storage.

I think it was protocol from the vaccine manufacturers that since it is two doses the 2nd doses is saved and waiting after several weeks before it is administered to the same person who got the 1st dose.
They need to save the 2nd dose din kasi kasi hindi nila alam kailan dadating yung additional doses from the same vaccines.
I think it was only the AstraZeneca vaccine that DOH and sec Duque wanted to use all the initial doses as 1st dose since it has a shorter shelf life compared to sinovac and that the interval between the 2 doses can be spread to several weeks, more than those recommended by Sinovac.

that is also what i understood for sinovac.
the second dose is kept inside the hospital's refrigerators, to be brought out at the appropriate time, for the appropriate arm.

i do not know how it is with the astra.
i vaguely remember hearing that their second dose is also inside the refrigerators, and will not be expired yet by the time the second dose is due.
planning that the second dose will still be imported, in time for the second dose, is... not re-assuring..

Grabe lag. Lumipat na sa kabilang bahay yung sunog pero nagiipon pa rin ng tubig. The bottlenecks should be addressed before the actual vaccine purchases arrive. Baka mamaya saka pa lang mag-iisip paano gagawin ulit pag millions of doses na yung dumating.

Not at all surprised if it's spreading within BGC. Drove aroundd Burgos Circle area last month akala mo walang virus sa dami ng tao sa labas. Meron pang mga speak easy bar na nag hohold ng parties! Buti na lang ni-report ng mga kapitbahay and it got shut down, but who knows what else is happening there.
