The male patient received two doses of the Sinopharm vaccine on Dec. 12 last year and on Jan. 2, DOH-Region 7 spokesperson Dr. Mary Jean Loreche told reporters in a message.

He arrived in Mandaue City last Jan. 5 from the United Arab Emirates and completed the quarantine period on the 20th.

A few weeks later, he underwent a swab test on Feb. 8 and the results released the next day showed he was positive for the coronavirus.

"Five out of seven household members were (also) positive for COVID-19, they are all currently isolated," Loreche added

in the first place, bakit may butas na linagyan ng filter?
why not manufacture the filter using only one type of effective filtering surface area? won't this be cheaper, manufacture-wise?
unless... they are using up the old stock na may butas, para hindi naman ma-sayang...

Pfizer says South African variant could significantly reduce vaccine protection | Reuters

A laboratory study suggests that the South African variant of the coronavirus may reduce antibody protection from the Pfizer Inc/BioNTech SE vaccine by two-thirds, and it is not clear if the shot will be effective against the mutation, the companies said on Wednesday.

The study found the vaccine was still able to neutralize the virus and there is not yet evidence from trials in people that the variant reduces vaccine protection, the companies said.

Even if the concerning variant significantly reduces effectiveness, the vaccine should still help protect against severe disease and death, he noted. Health experts have said that is the most important factor in keeping stretched healthcare systems from becoming overwhelmed.
