yes sa Pinas wala pa naman (yata) e484 variant effective parin sa Pinas ang Astrazeneca vaccine

the vaccine can prevent severe illness and death kaya dapat mabakunahan na mga high risk

Unwilling to wait, poorer countries seek their own vaccines – The Manila Times

Most countries find the COVAX facility to slow in giving the vaccine.

BTW i talked to some people within some big companies here. They have been trying to procure different vaccine from other manufacturers even those who are still on their Stage II trials.
Apparently the vaccine companies wants assurance from the government regarding their vaccine but skeptical pa daw yung government dun sa mga nasa Stage II trials pa lang. Pinapaikot daw sila sa red tape when they were requesting a representative to be included in the vaccine procurment negotiations.

Dito ko ata nabasa dati yung article na main ingredient ng vaccine nila is source from China.
Inipit daw sila sa supplier nila, hindi makapag provide/deliver on time ng main ingredient sa vaccine ng aztrazeneca.
Main ingredient sa vaccine nila is the virus from chimpanzee and this is source from China daw.

    sa Europa yan

may gumagawa ang AZN vaccine sa Europe para lang sa european market (afaik Netherlands and Belgium)

no connection sa atin coz AZN vaccines for PH will come from India (Serum Institute)

India doesn't seem to have production problem coz they're shipping free vaccines to other countries

November pa ang order nila Joey Concepcion pero inuna pa ng India ang pagpadala ng libreng bakuna sa ibang bansa

Not optimistic about Astrazeneca for old people...

Portugal's health ministry said on Monday the AstraZeneca vaccine should preferably be used on under-65s, the latest European country to express reservations about its efficacy on older people.
Still, the ministry said, the vaccination of a person of 65 years or more should not be delayed if the AstraZeneca vaccine is the only one available.

Germany, France, Austria and Norway have said they will only administer the shot to under-65s, with Poland limiting it to under-60s and Spain and Italy to under-55s.

    Sperm killer...

Young, ***ually active men who recover from COVID-19 may be at risk for fertility problems, a small study from Italy suggests.

Doctors who analyzed semen samples from 43 such men found that in 25%, the semen was nearly or completely devoid of sperm. A complete absence of sperm, or azoospermia, was "highly related to the severity of the illness: the condition was found in four out of five patients admitted to the intensive care unit," researchers reported in the journal Human Reproduction.

(* mga variant kasi di lang UK variant ang may N501Y mutation... pati brazil and south african variants)

it takes less virus to cause covid

and it can make young people sick unlike older variants where young people don't feel anything

A related question is how about Filipinos working in international organizations or UN Agencies here in the Philippines and whether they will be vaccinated by their employers?

Balita ko is that even ADB has not considered importing vaccines for their staff, or at least up this time. Not sure about the WHO office here.
