MANILA — The Philippines has detected 8 more cases of the supposedly more transmissible COVID-19 variant, the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Friday, bringing the number of patients infected with the strain to 25.

In a statement, the DOH said of the 8 new cases with the B.1.1.7 variant, 3 were from Bontoc town in Mountain Province, 2 were detected in La Trinidad town, Benguet, while 2 others were returning overseas Filipinos.

The 8th additional case is a 35-year-old male from Liloan town, Cebu, according to the DOH.

The OCTA Research Group last week warned that the COVID-19 variant has already spread in Cebu City, noting the increased rate of infection.

Don’t be too honest with those “contact tracing” apps. In a store in Alabang, one question was if I had travelled outside the NCR. Obvious ba? A lot of people do. There was an article before, of an example of how people in a resto got infected. More infections happened to those seated farthest from the a/c. Be wary of enclosed, airconditioned, poorly ventilated & highly populated areas. Even if you are masked, gaps in the masks are still venues for the virus to enter especially if the viral load in the place is very high.

Since nag lockdown last year, once pa lang kami kumain sa resto. Kumain kami ng lunch dun kasi, aside from the employees, kami lang andun at mabilisan. Di rin namin naenjoy yung meal. Nakakatakot kasi.

HELLO KAGS?!?! Napaka efficient talaga ng America Yung mga retired Auntie and Uncle ko na vaccinate na (Moderna) My Mom is convincing me to get a vaccine in the US if I am qualified na. Napapaisip tuloy ako kasi yung Auntie ko alam ko ayaw niya pero somehow she got it na. Mukhang magiging on track ang US government sa goal nila, at least in democratic states
