Kamusta gasoline consumption mo trup? am ranging 3.8 to 4km/liter only, at 100% city driving. I suppose the automatic tranny aggravates the petrol hungry V6. Everytime I gas up, I keep wondering why I didn't get the diesel version of this local trooper.

Just curious kase tawag nila sa version ng 4x4 nun ay yung Torque on Demand, which from what I gather, is just a fancy name for a lame duck "real time four wheel drive" na we all know is not a real 4x4. Does that mean yung huling labas ng Trooper dun (as you probably know already, Trooper was discontinued last year in the States) sa US ay wala nang 4L and 4H transfer case tulad nung version natin???:D

chrono,
visit mo www.isuzu-suvs.com, may explanation ng TOD dun. Base sa mga us review ng v6 3.2 15-18mpg, so mga 4 to 6 km/l nga rough estimate, cguro mas laklak yung 3.5 v6. La ako number ng autospecs, nasa corner sya ng banawe and dapitan, gnawa ko frm quezon ave, right sa sto domingo church, left sa dapitan, pag dating sa corner ng banawe/dapitan nasa harap mo na, bandang left. di ko pa kakabit, baka nxt year na while nasa shop.
tama ka, us version nga kse may cruise control and wala syang signal light sa fenders, iniba lang yung rear seats. i'm also looking for a 3 pt seat belt sa rear seats para mdyo modela nman ang dating. San ka nga pala ngapa paservice? and san ka bumubili ng parts?

December 11th, 2003 12:40 PM #237Yes Trup,
Saw that website before, that's where I learned na na-castrate nga yung part-time 4WD nung huling labas ng Trooper sa US and they downgraded it to TOD which is just a 2 wheel drive system that TEMPORARILY routes torque to the axle with traction when traction in 2WD is COMPLETELY LOST. In short, Honda CRV.
Tama lang naman yun, kase over 90% ng mga kano never take their SUVs offroad (guilty din ako dyan, hehehe).
Dati, dun ako nagpapa-service sa Isuzu Makati - parts and service, but I bring my own Oil. I use the imported TOTAL QUARTZ 5000. Lately I tried Isuzu Manila for PMS kase hindi ganun ka-hectic dun sa hapon, lalo kung early in the workweek.
Let me know din kung may mahanap kang 3pt seat belts para sa rear seats. Gusto do din nyan.:D Did not bother to ask sa Isuzu mismo kase alam kong harang ang presyo nila and besides baka kulay brown lang ang kaya nila i-supply whereas grey yung kelangan naten. What about the front facing third row seats? May napansen ka na bang nagbebenta dito sa maynila?

about the seatbelts, asked isuzu commonwealth, beige lang daw meron kse even the crosswind and pick-up's lap belts lang sa likod except d-max so kelangan mag hanap sa mga surplus shops. The rear seats naman medyo complikado kse we need yung floor hooks na kakabitan ng locks nung seats and wala pa ko nakikita na rear seats for trooper plus yung rear grab handle where the straps will be strapped
ang gusto ko talaga ibahin sa ride natin is yung front end (grill, headlight, bumper) medyo outdated na kse ang dating. problem is pag nagpalit ng grill, palit din ng hood :c dont know what else to do sa front end to make it more stylish

December 11th, 2003 08:15 PM #239Trup,
Sawa ka na pala sa front end ng sasakyan. Thought about that too - changing the front grille and lamps - but you're right, kailangan ding palitan hindi lang yung hood, but also the fenders. Haven't asked sa Isuzu, but am sure that the whole procedure will cost more than P50K.
Anyway, okay pa rin naman sa akin yung orig look nya, kase it makes the vehicle look more boxy/angular and taller - exactly the kind of look I want in an SUV. But there are days that I also think about changing the front end.
I guess the Pajero fans with Gen 2 are in the same dilemma as us about changing theirs to the Gen 2.5 blister/flare look, but I'm sure it will be as prohibitive in terms of cost as well - that would be two fenders, two rear doors, two quarter panels (?), aside from the lamps, grills, etc.
You might also wanna look into changing the front end look by getting an ARB bumper. Asked at a local distributor, where I also got my OME coils and shocks. The ARB for our rig will cost roughly Php35K. Ouch! And the ARB with winch mount will cost Php40K+++. Double ouch!
BTW, have you considered dropping the V6 gas engine and changing into a diesel engine? Wonder how much a new diesel engine for our ride would cost???

A new 4d56 Turbo costs Php 135K. Baka mas mahal pa ang sa Isuzu. Yikes!
