April 24th, 2011 11:30 PM #731tranny was finally finished last monday. just in time for our holy week bicol trip. didn't give me any problems the whole 1,300++km we drove round trip. parts that were changed:
overhaul kit - bryco brand 16k
computer box - 2k (old one was swapped)
valve body - 6k
total bill was 32k.
average fc from manila to bicol with hho - 10km/l
ave fc bicol to manila w/out hho - 8.9 km/l
during this trip i discovered that the rear gas-a-just shox are too soft when the trooper is fully loaded with 6 adults and 2 kids. rear suspension kept bottoming out. so i plan to change them with new shox very soon.

ako i changed to bilstein shocks(purchased abroad) at medyo naminimize ang body roll. planning also to change the coil springs to an aftermarket one(OME or ironman or dobinson; larger diameter coils at may dagdag pa na ikot usually).
suggestion din ng mechanic friend ko, use a stiffer gas shock.

April 28th, 2011 12:25 PM #736bought a pair of rear monroe magnuns yesterday from amazon mechandize along masangkay, manila. each cost 1.2k. they also have the gasmatic which cost 850. this is the model they gave me.
but before i could bring them home. they had to change the top bushing with one with a metal tube in the middle.
installed them this morning. here is a pic of the new shox and the old kyb gas adjust.
the old kyb gas a just had no leaks and seem to still be working.
will be going to balayan today. will let you guy know how the magnuns perform

April 30th, 2011 04:08 PM #737Anyone here who can tell me the hp/rpm and Nm torque/rpm figures as well as city and highway fuel mileage of the 4JG2 engine both EFI and non-EFI? I'm currently looking for a Bighorn/local 4JG2 Trooper for a relative and would want to know more about it but I can't seem to find its specs anywhere.

April 30th, 2011 04:18 PM #738ride has improved with the gas magnuns. but i still find the rear suspension too soft. i checked out a local trooper and it seems that the springs of the local trooper have a higher spring rate. can anyone confirm this?
