at the right price, i'd buy one, even as i can't read the sub-dials.
Doc same here. I prefer watches with just the numbers because that's all I could read and I like it clean and simple.

last night, i went to my suking watch store to have one of my watch bracelet links removed, because i couldn't do it at home.
"why does it seem so easy in youtube, but very difficult in my case?"
"sir, your pin is already rusty."

    Just a moment...

It looks like we are halfway down from the highest Rolex prices recorded during the pandemic (I suggest you check the 3Y view on the chart in the above link). With the banking crises happening in the US and Switzerland, I fully expect prices to fall further.

Meanwhile, a friend of mine in Japan (lives in Ehime Prefecture) has been bugging me to check out watch dealers in cities and towns away from Osaka, Tokyo, or tourist spots like Sapporo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima. Apparently, if you look hard enough, you can still find brand new, old stock Swiss watches for sale. And, if you're lucky, some shops are still on SRP's from 2020.

The pre-owned vintage watch market in Japan, already famous for being a place for good horology finds, is reportedly much better stocked these days (probably due to the pandemic). These small mom and pop shops are usually located near pawn shops in old shotengai (old-fashioned shopping centers/malls). In Tokyo, one could check the nearest Daikokuya to get a taste of what's available but prices are probably higher than the smaller shops. Btw, these stores will only sell genuine items.

I think it's time to pay Japan another visit.

I chanced upon this Seiko 5 GMT SSK001 at this *Tokyo seiko watch branch at BGC. The store attendant told me it's in high demand and fortunately there's a single stock left. I almost took out my wallet to buy it but decided to wait until my bday.

i have some experience regarding "waiting".
"the item sometimes disappears by the time you are ready to buy."
but i think i have seen that particular item in other tokyo stores.

i had the chance to get the spb143 some time back, for 45K.
    i hesitated.
    stocks ran out.
they are now available again, but for 60K...
    sigh.

ako naman in some instances yung waiting time makes the want somewhat simmer down. good in the sense less impulse buy yiu can collect your thoughts if need mo ba o gustong gusto talaga. but if after waiting andun pa din yung want i guess mas "justified" yun purchase

It's a good looking watch: jubilee bracelet, gorgeous blue and gray bezel, new Caliber 4R34 with 40-hour power reserve, and a 24-hour GMT function; all of this for under ₱25k.

Stole this photo from a Facebook group. This is a Sea Dweller 4000 ref. 16600 (aka the SD4K).

    • 40mm
    • with date but no cyclops
    • helium escape valve
    • bigger crown guards

IMHO, this is the best Rolex Submariner ever made; my GOAT.
