iPhone 6 coming as early as September, likely in 4.7-5.5-inch varieties says Nikkei

There’s not a whole lot here that we haven’t heard before, but today Nikkei Asian Review reports that orders into component suppliers indicate Apple’s next-gen iPhone will debut as early as September in two new screen sizes.

As reported previously by Bloomberg, WSJ, and others, Nikkei says Apple will introduce a new 4.7-inch iPhone alongside a larger 5.5-inch model. The report’s cites sources in Apple’s supply chain and says Apple’s display suppliers– Sharp, Japan Display, & LG– plan mass production of LCD panels sometime between April-June:

So, can you guys give me a reason why people need that much power on a mobile?

Battery I understand, maybe even the display.

Kung sa laptop, pwede pa, eh sa mobile?

Ah oo nga pala, status symbol.

Not really a status symbol. For me I have all the corporate stuff synced to my mobile. I can also attend conference call via mobile. Its just that I need the power to do all the stuff without hanging/rebooting the phone.

Like I am viewing a document being shared through my mobile while video/voice calling through lync.

While doing that, I also have my corporate email synced so I can also do that at the same time.

    Hth.

games. Tho ako mismo hanggang PvZ lang

Manufacturers have to make newer phones to make more money; if there's no use for that kind of processing power, trust that they'll *make* a need for it.

i do find the processing power on phones quite ridiculous...but in the end, it's their money dude ;)

Mas okay na maganda RAM and CPU combo para mabilis at hindi lag kahit na marami apps na ginagamit. Hindi naman lahat nang maganda specs eh mahal. Mga 4.5 inc na 2 gb RAM at quad core okay na okay na. Kapag malaki screen kasi at FHD pa, mabagal if mahina internals.

Nokia's WP 8.1 release detailed, to be called Lumia Cyan

Yesterday Microsoft announced the long awaited Windows Phone 8.1 update. It is going to launch on all Windows Phone 8-running smartphones and will bring Action Center, Cortana voice assistant, World Flow keyboard, better Live Tiles with custom wallpapers and more.

Lumia 930, 630 and 635 are the first devices to run on Windows Phone 8.1 plus Lumia Cyan out of the box. Nokia has announced both updates are coming this summer to the entire WP8 Lumia lineup.

In addition to all WP8.1 cool features, Lumia Cyan will bring "enhancements to the camera roll and Creative Studio, as well as a new and improved Nokia Storyteller app, for sharing stories as a video slideshow on social networks".

Nokia Cyan will also enable Miracast on Lumia 1520, Icon and 930. It will also allow those Lumia devices to capture Dolby Surround Sound thanks to the Nokia Rich Recording option.

Because the Android system is optimized to multitask and to do that it needs lots of RAM and cores.

New shots of alleged Apple iPhone 6 front panel leak

Factory floors out of China have long been sources of leaked shots of upcoming Apple devices, and apparently the anticipated iPhone 6 is no exception. The latest alleged shot has it next to an iPhone 5S, showing off the rumored larger screen of Apple's next smartphone flagship (an roughly coinciding with previous leaked shots).

If the iPhone 6 follows the footsteps of its predecessor, then image leaks of panels and cases should continue to surface up to the anticipated announcement. That should take place sometime around early autumn if previous iPhone launches are any indication.

However, leaks out of Asian factories should always be taken with more than the usual bit of skepticism, as frequently they are of knock-off manufacturers or case designers. Also, we've been hearing inklings of a larger-screened iPhone since before the iPhone 5 launch, although not often with an actual front panel.

If the image does turn out to be true, it means that Apple has finally resigned itself to a large-screened display that has been an industry trend in recent years. We're sure to have an increasing amount of Apple leaks in the coming months, so be sure to check back with us often!
