Between the Msi Wind U100+ & Lenovo S10, the differences are...
MSi Wind U100+:
-250gig HDD
-2gig ram (as sold by PC Corner)
-no bluetooth
-six cell battery (aftermarket 9 cell battery available)
-3 USB ports
-system eco-mode and overclock functions (but the function only adds 20 to 30 minutes to total battery time)
-LCD hinge rather feels flimsy
-overall look, rather ordinary (but modders have made it look like a Macbook Mini)

Lenovo S10:
-160 gig HDD
-1gig ram
-bluetooth
-six cell version available (but most are sold with 3-cell)
-2 USB ports
-LCD hinge feels solid and firm
-overall look, kinda classy.
In the end, if you value looks since basic function are exactly alike, the S10 is the choice but if you are planning to do some mods to the netbook later, the U100+ is good value for money plus it has a bigger HDD and more RAM without openning the case.
Talking about the case, the U100 chassis can be easily openned by removing the nine screws of it's bottom cover. This makes it extremely easy for nearly anyone to access and mod the internals of the U100.

Lenovo announces 12.1-inch, Ion-powered netbook
Nvidia says the Ion is powerful enough to propel the S12 into the full-blown "notebook" category, but Lenovo is more conservative, calling the system a plain netbook.According to Lenovo's press release, the Intel-only flavor of the IdeaPad S12 will become available next month at $449. You'll have to wait until "later this summer" to get the pricier Ion-based version, which will add an HDMI output and superior graphics capabilities.

Guys, any feedback on how well current netbooks perform when accessing MsOffice/Open Office files?
Especially those huge spreadsheets (with some excel vba macros) or 300+ page word files. TIA.

Works fine. Depends on the speed of your other computers as a comparison. Performance is within expectations. Some delay in opening large documents/spreadsheets but once open, runs well (needs a few seconds to refresh). Best to have only one application running to maximize performance.

I guess I'll also have to configure an SSD instead of the standard HDD to improve performance. Thanks for the reply.

I got an Acer Aspire One 10.1" AO531h-1440 netbook. Came with 160Gb HD, webcam & mic, built-in Wifi, 3G SIM card and a 6-cell battery. Upgraded the RAM to 2gig, added a LiteOn external CD/DVD writer and a Logitech VX Nano mouse.
Installed Office 2003 Pro, MS Street and Trips, Nero 7, AVG Anti-virus and Acrobat Pro 6. Works great so far and no problems encountered yet!

Would you believe: this guy from INTEL said in a product presentation I attended yesterday that 1GB RAM is all you'll need for Windows (whether it be XP, Vista, or 7)!
He said that if you wanted a performance boost when upgrading your new laptop (or desktop), you should ask for a CPU upgrade more than a RAM upgrade.
I wanted to interrupt him and prove him wrong right then and there, but it would've been rude to say, "YOU'VE NEVER USED VISTA on a 1GB RAM machine, have ya?!"
