Wala pa, pero I have been eyeing this from Asus....

Company claims 9.5 hrs battery life. In real world, probably less. If I can get 7 hrs on this thing I'll be happy. Hinihintay ko lang bumaba ang price then yung na save ko pang upgrade ko ng memory.
im using an argon blue umpc. this is not an intel-atom based unit. nakalimutan ko yung processor name nya. 1gb ram, 80 gb dasd, wlan, webcam, winxp. ok lang sya sa akin.... in fat, eto gamit ko ngayon habang nagsusulat netong post na ito.
best thing here is the batter life. 4-5 hours.
cons, masyadong maliit ang screen.
wife has this HP Vivienne 1140NR, its 10 inch, 1.6ghz intel atom, 1gb ram w/ a 60gb HD on a XP home edition. its ok just for internet use, MSword or MSoffice thats all nothing special,i hate using it feels like my hands are all red after using and screen too small for me lol.

I see these stuffs as my kids' notebooks when they go to college....

I have seen the actual unit in my visit in taipei, taiwan. Its a good unit with its mac style keyboard.
As for the battery life, the claim is valid because the battery I saw had a capacity rating of 8800 mAh.
My Msi wind U100's 4400 mAh battery gets me 4 to 4.5 hours max.
My current netbook is a MSi Wind U100+ (black)
Purchased for P21,000 * PC Corner (I used TPC discount). Reg price P22,000.
Intel Atom N280 1.66ghz / 2gig ram / 250gig HDD / six cell battery / 10" LCD
WiFi / webcam / 3 usb ports / vga / sound / mic
MS Windows XP Home SP3
I have ordered a nine cell battery to increase the netbook's battery life.
Cool feature of this netbook is the ability to underclock / overclock the system at will. It's supposed to either increase battery life or increase system performance.
I really want to get one as my macbook pro is a bit heavy. I've seen that Asus will release model 1004DN. This model will have an optical drive. I will wait for this to come out to see if this will fit my basic needs.
Acer Aspire 101A 1st Gen Color blue w/ 120GB HDD, 1.6GHZ Intel Atom, and 1GB Ram, nothing special - just having fun compiling programs coz it's small but terrible. (grin)
I just got my wife a replacement laptop the old Toshiba finally died on her. She keep asking for one of those small ones so this is what i got on ebay for 210 USD shipped.

netbooks are getting cheaper AT&T are selling them $50 w/ data plan, thats way cheaper than a iphone

Hmmm, I would have suggested the Asus EEE PC 900 netbook. The bigger screen makes internet access easier because the 9" screen with higher resolution on the EEE/900 is wider so you don't have to side scroll to see the width of a webpage. Also, the 900 does come with Windows XP as compared to LINUX on the 701 models. And squeezing WinXP on 4gig SSD will require NLITE or similar tools to make it all fit.
GH, how much is was the 9 cell battery, also how much is a 6 cell battery?
I was having an idea of cost cutting by implementing Netbooks to replace desktop PC in our company. It will definitely save on the cost of UPS and annual maintenance cost. It will also bring savings to electricity cost (low power per user and lower airconditioning cost).
Depends on model of battery.
MSi Wind U100 series nine cell battery: $77.98

MSi Wind U100 series six cell battery: $59.86
http://www.global-laptop-batteries.c...l-battery.html
Kindly note that my MSi Wind U100+ came with six cell battery (4400 mAh capacity).
The problem with NETBOOKs to replace desktop units is the size of the screen. You might want to implement net-top PCs like the Asus EEE Box PC?I was having an idea of cost cutting by implementing Netbooks to replace desktop PC in our company. if you're going for a net-top, wait for the Acer Atom with nVidia 9400M this coming June.
but personally, i say you go for Dual Core laptops instead. Compaq CQ40 14" wide 2.0GHz 1GB DVD-RAM RW is like 25k lang.
Have not liked netbooks from the start and I think they didn't last the test of time.
The form factor wasn't all that useful because the keyboard was too small. They were utterly, utterly slow even when brand new. Even basic MS office would lag if you added animations in ppt or complicated formulas in excel. Don't even think of running Lightroom or Photoshop.
Not even adding an SSD will save you because while you can get quicker boot times, anything that requires processing power gets bogged down.
A smartphone will even outdo it for t0rrent use.
If you need something for basic consumption (browsing, reading, presentations) - an iPad works much better. If you need something for basic content creation (i.e. MS office, coding, photoshop) - shell out the extra money for a legit ultrabook.

The keyboard of the Toshiba Mini is almost the same size as a dedicated "chiclet" keyboard. The only small keys were the 4 arrow keys. Netbooks weren't designed for intensive work. I used it for five semesters and it did okay with MS Office, Access, MySQL, Java programming. I even used it to render simple movies via Windows Movie Maker and play a few late 90's games such as Quake 2 and System Shock 2. Mine was snappy in Windows 7 because Intel had accelerated drivers for the Intel GMA 3150. Unfortunately, It doesn't have the same support for Windows 10. So, yeah. Now it's slow.
Quake 2 ran fine in Windows 7....as did most 2D games such as Red Alert 2 and Star Control 2. Another game that ran fine was the SP and bot mode of Battlefield 1942.

After years of quarantine, i am again using my MS Surface Pro 2. Originally used for travels, I decided to use it as desktop CPU connected to a 27" monitor & wireless kb/mouse. With Intel i5 processor, 4GB ram, it does perform like a desktop running Win10 Pro (upgraded for free from pathetic Win8!). It can even play 1080p hevc videos.
I love this toy!
