I'm tempted to replace my old gaming PC. But, there are no compelling games I want bad enough to warrant a new PC. I'm happy to play just Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 which my current PC can run well. There hasn't been a new flight sim for a long time. That's why I spent my upgrade cash on both my kids' PCs. My kid's Intel i5 4670k with R9 290x is better than my AMD FX-8350 with 4 Gb GTX 770.

Perhaps, when Star Citizen is released I might assemble a new one.

I still have this: Aopen MiniPC Duo MP965-DR

    Specs:

    T9500 Penryn
    4Gb DDR2 Sodimm
    320Gb 2.5 Sata

    Windows 10

    Dell 19-in (wall mounted)
    Dell Soundbar (mounted sa LCD)
    Dell Mouse (wireless)
    Dell Keyboard (wireless)

I made that set up kasi, pag desktop, kung di ka maayos sa wiring, ang messy tingnan + space consuming pa

It served, still serving and will continue to serve its purposes. Around 8 years ko na din ito gamit

Once I don't have to do content creation or game, then I can give up desktop PCs. For now, I need desktop PCs. Even my laptops need to behave like desktop PCs with external keyboard and mouse.

One good thing about laptops is the portability and ease of hooking them up to LCD TVs. This is a similar set up I use with hotel room TVs when we're traveling. No one watches TV anymore especially when there's only basic cable.

Anyway, this also ties in to cheap TVs. Our kitchen TV is a 32" 720p Hisense. I heard Hisense is China's top brand. It shows why with very good picture quality and has been durable so far. It's two years old and has been trouble-free. It seems to do well as a PC monitor (1366x768). My only other Hisense device is a 7" Sero 7 Pro tablet. Excellent tablet when it first released.

It appears my 2006 (hand-me-down) Mac Mini is now my oldest desktop PC. It used to be my eldest kid's school computer which required Macs at the time.

Last month, it reached 10 years of use.

Everything is still original except the OS. The original OS was OSX 10.4.11 Tiger. Honestly? I think OSX Snow Leo is the best version of OSX even though it's not newest anymore. Very fast and snappy.

Intel 1.66 GHz Core Duo with Intel GMA 950 graphics
    2 GB DDR2 RAM
    Fujitsu 60 GB SATA HDD
    OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard

Versatile little computer. It's used strictly for homework (MS Office for Mac 2008) and Web surfing. It still does those jobs well although it's now a backup to my newer computers. Even though it's still using WiFi 802.11g, Web surfing is snappy.

My kid dropped Macs and prefer her desktop PC with Windows 10 although she likes iOS (iPad Pro and iPhone 6s). She had a newer Mini which was passed on to her cousin. This one was the first Intel Mac Mini and was the last of the original Mac Mini styling. I'm never getting rid of it.

Amd used to be the best during the Pentium 4 era but now they can compete with intel in the i3 segment and up

    need help again mga bro

from suggestion of fellow tsikoters(especially boss jut) last year ito yung nabuong rig ko with 15k budget for dota 2:
    -AMD A8 7600
    -ASUS A88
    -8GB kingston Hyper X Fury
    -500watts True Rated Huntkey
    -500GB HD

super satisfied ako kaso as you can see wala pa ako vidoe card.

My gaming PC is three years old (AMD FX-8350/MSI (factory OC) 4GB GTX 770). So long as it can play Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 decently, I have no need to upgrade. I'll wait until Star Citizen or SQ42 is released before assembling a new PC.

I started with an 8088/8086 comp in KSA. Graduated gradually to 286, 386, 486 dx turbo, Pentium and now core i3 windows 10 pro. I was given the choice between a laptap and desktop as a bday gift. Choosed the desktop; I can fix a desktop; boring to open a laptop; too complicated and miniaturized. Because the parts of a desktop could be purchased from lazada; PS, mother board, ram, hdd, it's easy to repair. I have a Pentium IV for stndby, a galaxy for viber and hypertension tones only and a reliable (Nokia, hehe) for texting.

with the introduction of DX12, having 8 cores is a great thing. even so with a GPU that has asynchronous compute.
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

My first computer was a used Commodore C-64. It didn't last long. I immediately switched to a Commodore A500 when it became available. Around the same time frame, I bought a Tandy 1000SX (Intel 8088 with 16-color Tandy Graphics and universal 4-color CGA). I also bought a Tandy 10 MB hard drive (RLL) that went into an ISA slot. That hard drive cost me $500. The OS at the time was MS-DOS 3.2. But, the 1000SX also had Deskmate that was hard-coded into the BIOS chip. I thought Deskmate was pretty neat at the time.

I sold the Tandy and stuck with the Amiga until 1995. I started assembling DIY PCs in 1992 and have been at it since.

Still have a (1993) photo of my 1992 build: AMD 80386DX-40, Paradise SVGA card, 4 MB RAM, 512k cache, 52 MB IDE hard drive. I took the photo because I had just added a Mitsumi 1x CD-ROM drive. I think I had also added a TV tuner by the time I took the photo.

5.25" and 3.5" floppies. VHS and cassette tapes. He He Actually, I also have a few CDs in the photo by that time. The monitor was a 14" Packard Hell SVGA. I can also see my Thrustmaster joystick partially hidden away.

Oh. Had a new GF too. ;)
