The intel skylake chips with HD6000 aren't so bad. I tried team fortress 2 on the macbook air and its decent. I'm thinking two more generations and they'd be really capable. Right now they have slightly more power than that of a discreete nvidia 920m

Amd used to be the best during the Pentium 4 era but now they can compete with intel in the i3 segment and up

    need help again mga bro

from suggestion of fellow tsikoters(especially boss jut) last year ito yung nabuong rig ko with 15k budget for dota 2:
    -AMD A8 7600
    -ASUS A88
    -8GB kingston Hyper X Fury
    -500watts True Rated Huntkey
    -500GB HD

super satisfied ako kaso as you can see wala pa ako vidoe card.
gusto ko sana salpakan na ng Video card.
ano recommmended VC for my existing rig? yung wala na sa modify. mostly dota or pwede kaya din sana mga Call of duty or Counter strike Online.
Planning to get the VC on November pa naman

    Desktop PCs? Present.

I'm on my 6th generation PC na. I called them "generations" everytime I do a CPU upgrade.

    1st gen: Pentium I MX 150mhz, 16mb RAM
2nd gen: Pentium III 500mhz, 64mb SD RAM, Nvidia NV4 TNT Riva 32mb
    3rd gen: Pentium IV "Willamette" 1.8ghz, 128mb SDRAM, GeForce 2 MX 32mb
4th gen: Pentium IV "Northwood" 2.4ghz, 512mb DDR RAM, GeForce 4 Ti 128mb/GeForce FX 256mb
    5th gen: Core2Quad "Yorkfield" 2.3ghz, 4GB DDR2 RAM, Palit GeForce 9600GT 1GB
    6th gen: i7 "Sandy Bridge-E" 3.6ghz, 32GB DDR3 RAM, Sapphire HD7870 2GB Flex

I started very young as my first PC was simply a "hand me down" from the family of which it stuttered even playing Red Alert 2. The first PC I got actively engaged in building was the 3rd gen Pentium 4 rig of which we were aiming to play at medium-settings the "upcoming" Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. This was me way back in elementary

Current 6th generation was purchased around late 2013..

    CPU: Intel i7 3820 3.6ghz
Mobo: Asus X79 Rampage IV Gene
    Memory: 32GB G.Skill ARES 1333mhz
    GPU: Sapphire HD7870 FLEX 2GB 256bit, Geforce 750Ti (work)
Casing: Cooler Master Cosmos II Ultra Tower
PSU: ThermalTake ToughPower 1200W Modular 80PLUS
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake 2.0 Extreme Watercooling (dead) replaced by Coolermaster V8 GTS
Monitor: Samsung 32EH5000 LED TV (primary), 3x Dell U3011 (work)
    Primary Speakers: Logitech X-540

    Primary Monitors: Dynaudio Excite X12
    DAC: Musiland Monitor 01
    Amplifier: Classe CAP-100
TV: Samsung 51" Plasma (forgot model tbh)

    Notes:
    1. My rig is kind-of-due for a mid-cycle upgrade but I felt that CPU "upgrades" have slowed down nowadays as the focus is more into efficiency over power. So I'll probably hold off the 7th gen until 2018.
    2. My mid-cycle upgrade will probably just be a GPU upgrade and a CPU cooler upgrade. Eyeing the Geforce 1060 series as well as a Noctua D15. Also mulling replacing the 30" 1080p TV monitor with a 4K 40" one.
    3. If you're wondering why I have an Ultra ATX case while doing a mATX mobo, you're not alone in that scratch-the-head moment. Reason for this is that the Cosmos II is my end-all case. I won't purchase another one as case upgrades add to the cost whenever I'm upgrading.
    4. As a general rule of thumb, I usually purchase 400% the "standard memory" whenever building the next PC. For example, the 4th rig had 512MB versus 128MB then (pRO heydays). But I will tell this to anybody who wants to load up on memory:Do not do it. I haven't even exceeded 20GB (though I did reach 16GB na)
    5. I started investing in PSUs on my 5th gen rig. I was sporting a 360W Antec EarthWatts PSU then but it became a limiting factor in upgrading my graphics card to a more powerful GPU.
    6. I need a new GPU with 3 Displayports to take advantage of the 1600P of the Dell U3011. Medyo annoying since HDMI is limited to 1080p lang (of which I didn't know). Also, the calibration settings of these Dell U3011 isn't correct. All three aren't correct in their settings.. some are warmer off the factory. Haven't calibrated them yet as they were a recent purchase in early 2016.
    7. I'm also a fan of air-cooling. Less hassle maintenance versus water cooling. This is coming from somebody whose previous closed loop AIO had the pump break down and my CPU reporting temperatures of 80C for one week. Funny as it is, I can actually run it for as long as 2 hours as I don't tax the CPU. It averaged 60-80Cs.
    8. My most memorable purchase is possibly when I purchased an Intel X25M 80GB for Php13,000. That SSD revolutionized my view on "response time", it's bonkers. I still have it on the 5th gen PC up until now.
    9. I generally avoid overclocking except for the first 3 months of purchase when the hype is real. As for now, factory na lahat. I don't need the additional juice and heat it brings.

Does anybody know where to buy a 3-monitor stand that can accomodate three (3) 30" monitors? I'm thinking of doing Amazon na because I can't find it locally.

Testing out the eldest kid's laptop with its SSD. I've held off on using SSDs up to this point. I'm the only one at home who hasn't made the switch. The wife's laptop also has an SSD. I'd test hers. But, she wouldn't give me her password.

From a cold (first of the day) start, the kid's laptop got to the Windows 10 login screen in more or less, 12 seconds. My desktop PC (full BIOS posting enabled) took 30 seconds. My laptop (with 750 GB SATA 5400 rpm HDD) took 15 seconds.

From the Windows 10 login screen to a usable desktop, my kid's laptop was there right away. I didn't even bother timing it. My laptop took 8 seconds while my desktop PC took 5 seconds.

I've held off on using SSDs because I rarely shut down my computers. I normally set them in Sleep Mode when idle.

I'll make the switch on my next PC.

Nakaka thrill yung old school na mag set ka pa ng jumper depending on what processor and memory to install...
Tapos pag may nag amoy sunog pag on mo ng power supply, manlalamig ka ng konti and ask yourself what went wrong [emoji33] [emoji1] [emoji16] [emoji29]

Mas madali din mag-overclock kasi unlocked pa ang multipliers ng mga processor.

Haha... bibili ka pa ng mamahaling processor fans and magandang CPU thermal paste to avoid overheating.

I managed to burn three motherboards noon bago ako natuto mag setup ng maayos. Buti na lang nakuha pa sa warranty lahat
