btw, it just occurred to me that the recent ied explosions in mindanao w/c rocked cotabato and basilan (?) have stopped ever since this attempted zamboanga siege by the mnlf began.

here's an excerpt from a manila bulletin article taken from yahoo about misuari's armm reign:

Like all megalomaniacs, Misuari's rule was notable for excesses. During his foreign sojourns, he occupies entire floors of five-star hotels to accommodate his cliques and hangers-on.
He was accused of being an inept administrator, often acting like potentate or a sultan, a feudal lord, and of spending more time speaking in conferences overseas than governing the autonomous region.
Misuari only reported for 187 days at the Office of the Regional Governor (ORG) in Cotabato City, touted as the ARMM's ''Little Malacaņang,'' during his five-year stint as the region's chief executive.
A big chunk of the ORG's yearly budget was spent for the travel and hotel accommodation of Misuari and his core staff who tagged along as he traveled in the country and abroad.
He need not worry about the Commission on Audit (COA), who had no say about how he threw away the millions of pesos at his disposal.
read the whole article here: Nur Misuari As A.R.M.M. Governor

frankly, i don't know why duterte is backing this guy up

As much as it would be nice to have an Apache helicopter bomb the hell out of these MNLF thugs, you'd hear all sorts of noise and complaints from the Left regarding military operations by a foreign power on PH soil (actually, ayaw nilang magamit din yun sa kanila).

This makes the role of the US troops limited to just sharing intel regarding the location and movement of MNLF and other OPFOR.

kung talagang diversion eto sa PDAF issue, well hindi siya nagwo-work:

Such reports infuriate citizens nationwide. The troops’ meal shortage meant two things. The commanders were too dense to gauge that food was their one big advantage over the besieged abductors. Or, the Army had no money for logistics and supplies. Either way, citizens blamed it on the pork barrel scam, the target of protests for weeks. Had senators and congressmen not been pocketing billions of pesos in “pork” allocations, the military would have had more money to train officers and equip foot soldiers.

Recently a Marine general spoke his mind out on the “pork” issue. Soldiers are dying because, he said, the government has not addressed the social ills on which the communist and Moro insurgencies thrive. Lawmakers have stolen the funds for social development. The general was the wrong person to say it, and so was censured. But what he said is true: Greedy politicos are the root of the country’s woes.

Updated one, I believe and effective if it is used as anti-personnel. There are two versions though, one with 76mm and another armed with a 90mm canon. Alin kaya meron tayo?

The tank served well during the falklands war..
