ISIS claims responsibility. Hmmm... let's see. An Airbus A321 flying at an altitude of 9400 meters was shot down by a bunch of "rebels". 9400 meters is WELL BEYOND the range of manpads like stinger(8000 meters max). Unless these guys are armed with actual SAM and not shoulder fired missile, I don't see how they could accomplish it.

    Nuke the Islamist...

Russia is opting a nuclear strike on ISIS; The Kremilin is awaiting concent from its allies

In response to the downing of a Russian civilian airliner in the Sinai in Egypt, the Kremlin is now poised for a nuclear strike on sites controlled by the Islamic State. Citing its right to protect its people and interests in Russia and abroad, Intelligence officials have anonymously reported that Russia is moving its tactical nuclear units closer to its international boundaries and its frontier with other hotspots within Russia, such as the northern Caucasus region. The Russian military have been called up to help evacuate Russian nationals within these hotspots and have ordered non-essential civilians to leave Syria, Iraq, the Gulf states and other nations in the Arab world.

Although Russia's poising to use its nuclear weapons on ISIS, Russia held a secret meeting with NATO, reassuring them that Russia has no intentions on using nuclear weapons on either Georgia or the Ukraine, citing that attacking either of them would invoke a nuclear strike from NATO. Also Russia had consulted with the Syrian government as well as the governments of its allies in the region, who in turned told the Kurds and other allied militias of a possible nuclear strike, warning them to move allied civilians from areas that might be struck by Russia's nuclear weapons.

A meeting of allied nations and Russia was held in Teheran within hours of the downing of the civilian passenger airliner in the northern Sinai- in which media reports have said that there was no in-climate reported at the time of the crash and witnesses on the ground claim a line of smoke went from the ground in the direction of the airliner before the ground to air missile hit the airliner. SITE has reported that a video purportedly made by either ISIS supporters or ISIS themselves that shows the downing of the airliner. The White House has declined to make a statement about this incident and the Kremlin's use of nuclear weapons. However, the Kremlin says the use of nuclear weapons is justified to protect its citizens and its interests, namely helping to sustain the government of Bashar Al-Assad and keeping the its allies in power in Iraq and Iran, which are considered allies to Russia. Their common interest in destroying ISIS motivates them to work together.

However, the US has stated its fears that deploying nuclear weapons near the region would spur an nuclear arms race in other nations in the region, namely Saudi Arabia and the nations within the Gulf Cooperation Council, a group of Sunni Muslim nations located in the Persian Gulf region, which have aided in the creation of ISIS and continue to support it like the way they supported Iraqi insurgents during the Iraq War (2003-2011). Both the US and the UN are concerned that the conflict in the region could lead into a wider conflict, possibly a world war.
(multiple intel reports concerning the downing of the Russian civilian airliner in northern Sinai, ISIS' purpoerted claim of responsibility and Russia's official response)

Another point of view on the Sinia plane incident: ISIS claims downing Russian airliner in Sinai in reprisal for Moscow?s Syria air strikes

though even with the launch elevation of 876 meters ASL, the missile will be more than half a kilometer short to hit anything which is a huge gap considering it's working against gravity.

Russia confirms its jet shot down near Turkish border
Russia confirms its jet downed near Turkish border, Turkey says it ignored warnings
Associated Press By Suzan Fraser and Nataliya Vasilyeva, Associated Press
    26 minutes ago

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- Turkey confirmed that it shot down a Russian warplane Tuesday, claiming it had violated Turkish airspace and ignored repeated warnings. Russia denied that the plane crossed the Syrian border into Turkish skies.

"We are looking into the circumstances of the crash of the Russian jet," Russia's Defense Ministry said. "The Ministry of Defense would like to stress that the plane was over the Syrian territory throughout the flight."

Russia said the Su-24 was downed by artillery fire, but Turkey claimed that its F-16s fired on the Russian plane after it ignored several warnings. The ministry said the pilots parachuted but added that Moscow had no further contact with them.

Video footage of the incident showed a warplane on fire before crashing on a hill and two crew members apparently parachuting safely.

Turkey's private Dogan news agency said two Russian helicopters, flying low over the Turkmen Bayirbucak region, searched for the two pilots.

A Turkish military statement said the plane entered Turkish airspace over town of Yaylidag, in Hatay province. It said the plane was warned 10 times within the space of 5 minutes.

On Friday, Turkey's Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador demanding that Russia cease operations in Syria targeting Turkmen villages, saying the Russian actions did not "constitute a fight against terrorism" but the bombing of civilians. Ambassador Andrey Karlov was warned during the meeting that the Russian operations could lead to serious consequences, the ministry said.

Syrian troops have been on the offensive in the area that is controlled by several insurgent groups including al-Qaida's branch in Syria, the Nusra Front, and the 2nd Coastal Division that consists of local Turkmen fighters.

Rami Abdurrahman, who heads the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said the warplane crashed in the Turkmen Mountains region in the coastal province of Latakia.

The Turkomen Mountains region has been subjected to a government offensive in recent days under the cover of Russian airstrikes.

Last month, Turkish jets shot down an unidentified drone that it said had violated Turkey's airspace.

Following earlier accusations of Russian intrusion into Turkish airspace, the U.S. European Command on Nov. 6 deployed six U.S. Air Force F-15 fighters from their base in Britain to Incirlik Air Base in Turkey to help the NATO-member country secure its skies.

The European Command said the deployment was "in response to the government of Turkey's request for support in securing the sovereignty of Turkish airspace."

A day before that, NATO's governing body, the North Atlantic Council, had warned Moscow it was courting "extreme danger" by sending planes into Turkish air space.

Putin in TV address: 'Today's tragic events will have significant consequences'
    Posted at 13:08

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called the downing of a Russian jet at the Turkey-Syria border "a stab in the back by the accomplices of terrorists".

"We will analyse everything in detail and today's tragic events will have significant consequences including for relations between Russia and Turkey."

He said the aircraft was inside Syrian airspace - 4km from the Turkish border - when it was hit, news agencies report.

I wonder if the Russians will pull the trigger if the Turks shoot down another of it's planes...

Russia's defence ministry said a cruiser equipped with an air defence system would be deployed in the Mediterranean to destroy "any targets representing a potential danger" for Russian forces in Syria.
Russian bombers carrying out air strikes over Syria will now be escorted by fighters, the military said.

War --> Oil prices go up --> People stop buying big vehicles.

This happened during the 70's Oil Crisis. Big American cars disappeared from the Philippines.

the killed pilot was parachuting, proves that the rebels backed by the west are far from being moderate

the fate of the world now depends on the crew of the ship named after the russian capital given the license to shoot turkish warplanes threatening russian bombers
