Ray is clueless when it comes to geopolitics. It doesn’t negate his knowledge of nutrition and biochemistry.
Putin is literally a former KGB agent. The KGB is no better than the CIA just as Russia is no better than the USA. They’re both run by evil psychopaths as are all countries. It’s pretty much always been this way though it’s nothing new really. It’s unfortunate but it is what it is. Movies and novels have conditioned us to believe there must always be a good guy powerful enough to beat the bad guy.

In my estimation, Ray judges countries and leaders by how they organize in terms of science, foods, etc. If you look at the USSR, their scientific method and progress was much more aligned with Rays way of thinking, one that emphasizes life, while the US historically has been neo-darwinistic, focused on genes (eugenics), and emphasis on pharmaceutical commodities to make a profit for multinational corporations, even at the expense of peoples health. The CIA, which is basically the global arm of corporate America, has historically looked to control regions of the world not for "democracy", but for access to their markets, which can be seen by the various dictators, kings, and criminals the CIA supported even at the expense of democratically elected leaders.
Ray recently has been praising chinas covid response, in that they used Losartan, a serotonin antagonist, to treat covid, and all the vaccines produced there are "real" vaccines, in that they are a dead virus vaccine instead of spike protein or MRNA. So the USSR, and now China, seem to emphasize whats best biologically for their population, with relative freedom in those sectors. China even has made a massive emphasis to increase milk production and access to their billion population. Does that mean the USSR, Russia, or china are perfect utopias, formulated in perfect political structures? no. but compared to the US, they are doing far better things at protecting biological life in their scientific arenas. They are indeed all authoritarian, and have done very horrible things like most countries, but its a matter of comparing them to the US in different fields, not simply focusing on the democratic aspect.
You can't invade another country just because they want to join a club. Hehe
Dami din russian speaking people sa Ukraine and obviously Putin won't pursue this aggressively if that's not the case.
So one way to look at it as well is Putin is also using the missile thing as an excuse for the Crimean follow-up. Problem kasi sa theory ni Putin na ayaw niya may missiles sa border eh what if makuha niya Ukraine tapos yung Poland at Hungary (neighbors ni Ukraine) mga NATO members din at afaik Poland has missile there as well. So invade din dapat yun?

wouldn't russian speaking ukrainians be pro-russia?
they may want to be part of russia

parang mga mayaman ayaw nila ng kapitbahay gagawin nila bibilhin nila ang property ng mga kapitbahay and leave those properties unoccupied

Some do talaga and I believe that Putin is banking on this. Mas madali kasi if may local support plus meron ngang local insurgency nga na pro-Russian. But if that line of thinking is allowed kasi, homogeneous annexation will be the in thing and that is a bad precedent. Back to the old ways na naman na cause nga ng maraming giyera dyan sa Europe.
Yung buffer nga kasi parang sa akin hindi naman totoo. US is afraid of NKor ballistic missiles after all.
Tingin ko may valid points si Putin pero yung invasion side is another angle that he really wants actually but using the "buffer" argument and pro-russian insurgency as his main argument lang para mas believable and understandable.
But I think hindi talaga magkakagulo yan, posturing na lang unless talagang lumakas yung pro-Russian movement. Civil war bagsak niyan...and the supporters are the west and Russian.
if russia invades ukraine, it'll be another afghanistan tragedy for them w/c will result in a new moneypit for the already struggling russian economy w/c is already crippled by layers upon layers of economic sanctions brought about by the ongoing russo-ukrainian war w/c resulted in the tenuous 2014 annexation of crimeria - w/c in turn is suffering from a man made drought brought about by ukraine's effective tactic of preventing the flow of water to the putin occupied peninsula. this parching condition was done by blocking off a vital canal w/c used to serve as crimea's hydro pipeline from the ukrainian mainland.
although it's true that russia has an immense military upperhand w/c will no doubt bring putin new territories in case of an invasion , the russians will have to cough up large amounts of money to hold on to those annexed lands because of the expected resulting asymmetrical ukrainian insurgency w/c will put another immense dent on their struggling finances. and mind you, ukraine has a gigantic land mass of 600,000++ square kilometers. it'll be pretty hard pressed for putin's men to put their former vassal in a stalin inspired vice grip.
at isa pang punto jan, if ever the russkies successfully and forcefully prevent ukraine from being a member of nato, the western alliance may end up getting 2 new important members in the national entities of sweden and finland - w/c have been for years unsure of joining the american led pact. if those 2 nordic countries get spooked enough and do embrace the nato umbrella, then another portion of russia's vast eastern underbelly will be left vulnerable. as a result, putin's aim to fully fortify that portion of their country will all be but a dream.
kaya baka mauwi sa saber rattling na lang si putin. kasi if the russians really wanted to invade their hardheaded neighbor, they would've done it several months ago when ukraine still had a significant dearth of military hardware and little to no international sympathy. eh ngayon the Ukrainians have received thousands of new armaments but definitely still not enough to thwart putin's war machine.
