At 01.30hrs in the morning, local time, the IRGCASF (IRGC Air and Space Force) fired at least 10 Fateh-313 short-range ballistic missiles and 5-6 Qiam intermediate-range ballistic missiles at at least two US bases in Iraq:

- Ain al-Assad (major US air base in central Iraq, housing UAVs and few C-130s)

- Erbil (northern Iraq, also housing British, German and Italian troops).

US sources seem to indicate there was a timely warning, and US troops all took cover. Air defences in form of C-RAM and Centurion CIWS were activated: they shot down at least one Qiam, possibly also several Fateh-313s.

While Tehran claims destruction of 'US fighter planes' and '30 killed' in Ain al-Assad, US sources stress there were no casualties.

The FAA has indefinitely banned commercial air travel over Iraq, Iran, the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. The sky is said to be full of interceptors from both sides.
