Plane was in the wrong place at the wrong time. They probably thought it was a retaliatory strike, considering the shoot-down happened just hours after they launched missiles at that Iraqi Airbase. Can only imagine how nervous their people manning SAMs must have been at the time.

Turns out grounded nga dapat yung flight. Since they had just attacked that airbase the entire airspace over Iran was locked down and that flight should not have taken off.

Same thing what happened during the 80s when the US Navy cruiser USS Vincennes shot down an Iranian airliner thinking that it may be an Iranian fighter flying in the military corridor towards the cruiser.

As they always say, “shoot first, ask questions later”. Hehehe
