I Mons is right that economically Aus does not want to distance itself from China, but when it comes to SCS issue and politicking of China onto AUS, they have been consistently against China's assertiveness.

i intentionally take the less popular side coz i'm glad there are countries standing up to the US
russia, china, iran etc while the rest of the world are pussies
i'm glad there's growing resistance to the US
Even the EU isn't on board with Trump re iran
and i'm really glad the US is being led by a childish narcissistic isolationist bigot pulling back from international trade and climate agreements
that will allow someone else to fill the vacuum left by the US
Trump is a symptom that the US is an empire in decline
yeah nobody can match them head on right now
but they are decaying from inside
