Bank loans expand 12% in June | Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — Credit growth accelerated to the fastest pace in more than two years in June despite the series of interest rate hikes by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to curb rising inflationary pressures.

Loans extended by big banks grew by 12 percent in June from 10.7 percent in May. This was the fastest since the 12.7-percent growth recorded in April 2020.

Loans disbursed by universal and big banks amounted to P10.19 trillion in end-June, P1.09 trillion higher than the P9.1 trillion recorded in the same period last year.

The BSP also reported a 10.6-percent increase in consumer loans to P903.81 billion for a share of 8.9 percent of the total loans. Credit card loans grew by 18.9 percent to P475.94 billion, offsetting the 0.2-percent decline in auto loans to P327.05 billion.

OFW remittances up 4.4% in June | Inquirer Business

Cash remittances that overseas Filipinos workers abroad sent to the Philippines through banks increased by 4.4 percent to reach $2.8 billion last June from $2.6 billion in the same month of 2021.

A significant portion of receipts was sent from the United States, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Qatar, and Singapore.

June data brought the total for the first semester to $15.3 billion, an increase of 2.9 percent from $14.9 billion in January-June 2021.
    but still...

mabilis ang pagbaba ng dollar reserves ng Pinas

remittances can partially offset the decline

They hold retailers, so it's a sign that the economy is normalizing.

    maybe not as much, individually.
but as there are so many of them naman...
    malaki na nga!

i once asked my japanese colleague, about the wealth of the japanese. this was in the late 90s.
"dr. d, the individual, no. but the government, yes. because there are so many of us contributing to it."

what i would like to be informed about, are the sales figures.
baka naman kasi, lookers-and-not-buyers lang ang mga 'yan.

    years ago,
a knowledgeable person once commented on the molopisha at that time,
"maraming tao diyan, but they still do not spend enough..."

kags sees (imagines!) what he wants to see...
living embodiment of tunnel vision and "i see what i want to see...".
    heh heh.
