I think the numerous objections in this trial can be blamed on the prosecution in the simple basis that they are unprepared and that the articles of impeachment are very poorly crafted - very broad accusations and allegations. Thus accusations of it as a "fishing expedition".

And the unpreparedness stemmed from the fact that they rushed the passing of the impeachment articles thus giving them less time to prepare.

Now, Adel Tamano in ANC pointed out that if the articles of impeachment passed through deliberation in the lower house (committee then plenary level), the accusations might have been improved. He compared it to the accusations against Clinton wherein the allegations are very detailed unlike the one passed in our lower house.
