Some have bought a condo or rented a space near their offices, etc.

Me nakausap nanay ko sa bus while stuck in traffic. Taga Laguna daw siya, halos 3-4 hours ang biyahe. What she does is cook up a storm during the weekends, then puts them in the freezer. Pagpasok sa trabaho o school, kanya kanyang kuha ng baon...pag uwi ng asawa o anak, kanya kanyang init na lang. Their tiyaga is admirable, but i can't help but think about what little family time they have left. Ultimong weekend e busy sa pagluluto.

i once confided to my boss, buti ka pa, me tiyaga kang magbasa and magresearch. He told me he was lucky to be living within walking distance from work, on the other hand, other guys regularly get stuck in traffic for 3-4 hours, pagdating ng bahay, laspag na rin.

We will never be able to quantify the damage/cost of traffic.

Yes, this is a big problem, and people should be patient and adjust, but this is just a workaround -- people expect a lot more from their votes other than having to grin and bear it.
IMHO, this is the same reaction I have.

Look, we crucified Abaya because, even though what he said: "Hindi nakakamatay ang traffic" was also true for most motorists... as what Tugade is saying here... it's still a frigging insensitive thing to say to people who are ALREADY making adjustments and who are stretched thin doing so... people who voted in Duterte partially because he promised to reform transport and traffic.

I'm glad I no longer commute regularly between the metro and Laguna. Because when I do, it's purgatory. I already spend two to three hours on the road OFF-PEAK. If you're stuck with an inflexible schedule, tulog sa bus, luto after midnight, and the only time you see your kids is when you wake them up before you go to the bus station.

Lucky are the younger ones who have no kids and can still afford condos. Most... no luck at all.

No, they know better. This is none longer Facebook.
They apologized because it was necessary.

Duterte did not curse Obama directly. And Obama understood that and took no offense. US security advisors train in the Philippines and understand the language (the STREET language, not just the formal language) much better than lowly news translators do. (I would tell you how I know, but I would have to kill you... )

But Obama also understood that Duterte was basically brushing him off. This is why he chose to postpone the meeting. Duterte should have said, more diplomatically, that he would talk to Obama, but he would not compromise his stance at the behest of a foreign government, since he is answerable only to his people.

    Tapos.

Diplomacy is not a schoolyard fight wherein you are talking to bullies, idiots and sheep. This is the big league, and saying the right things is important.

Diplomacy will not get us very far with China. They are used to saying one thing and doing another. They are perfectly happy running billion dollar trade deals with Japan or Korea while at the same time staging fake anti-Japanese/Korean protests and spreading nationalist propaganda denouncing these trade partners. Hell... during the first Spratley disputes, Chinese friends related that Chinese media was demonizing Filipinos, saying they were beating up and killing Chinese in the streets.

We cannot negotiate over the WPS with China. China will stand firm on being first and foremost there, and if exploration talks begin, we will be left begging for table scraps. Western Allies will also act selfishly in joint-exploration, but we'll get a better deal there, IMHO.

Diplomacy with a two-faced devil? No thanks. Not that the US is not two-faced, but at least they're very polite about it.

    That's another crazy item.

This De Lima matrix is really blowing up in their faces. Should've stuck to the Generals. At least that matrix came from Ramos and was somewhat reliable.

While Lie Detector results don't prove anything beyond a shadow of a doubt, the evidence so far from the two ... the data so far from the two aides is laughable. The most they can prove is De Lima is depositing piddly amounts in the driver's account... and that's it.

And all they can say is they have testimony from Bilibid inmates that *may* lead back to De Lima. A ****ing witchhunt using a caged canary would dig up better dirt.

Duterte Outbursts Taking Toll as Philippine Stock Losses Mount

Losses in Philippine stocks are accelerating as foreigners keep pulling money from Asia’s most expensive market amid speculation the outbursts of President Rodrigo Duterte are hurting investor sentiment.

The Philippine Stock Exchange Index fell 1.3 percent to 7,619.10 in its biggest decline in five weeks. The gauge has dropped 6 percent from a 15-month high on July 21, paring its gain this year to 9.6 percent. Foreign funds pulled $58 million from local equities Wednesday, the most in almost a year, and have sold a net $333 million in an 11-day run of outflows. The index is down 2.3 percent this quarter, the only decliner among major Asian markets.

“Smart investors should take advantage of the weakness and accumulate because this is all sentiment-driven," said Rizal’s Palma Gil. “Other than incendiary statements and killings related to the drug war, investors like Duterte’s economic and fiscal policies or at least what has been communicated so far,” he said, adding that he expected the index would go back up to 8,000.

Sabi ko na e. Dapat dagdagan ang budget for DOH for mental health treatments. Binawasan pa nila.

Any psychologists here? Are the 'tards all really just stupid, or does du30 have some David Koresh thing going on.

i think logic is the one that's getting shoved out the door. that means you people hehe.

magbasa kasi ng history, logic and intelligence are not gospel truths. look at the French Revolution, France was very intellectual and very progressive that time, but the French people threw it all away. same goes with Classical Rome.

talagang darating ang panahon na ito. maybe it's time for all of you to stop embracing logic and intelligence kasi di din naman nag-work sa society natin. if it truly works then why are we like this?

They apologized because they have no choice. I wouldn't be surprised is somebody from Malacanang/DFA received a phone call. Pres. Duterte is too proud para kainin ang sarili nyang suka.

By directly you mean he didn't say, "putangina mo Obama", then I agree. But definitely, based on the transcript, the subject of the curse is Pres. Obama and not the kolumnistas.

IMHO, it's not about Pres. Obama understanding and taking no offense. You do something like that to the POTUS, there will be repercussions.

Agree on this! It's that simple. You win both the local and the international audience.

I very much appreciate your thoughts on this, very thorough.

On a general note, Duterte crowd is trying to drum on the atrocities perpetrated by the Americans during the Philippine-American War. As a nation, this is how we should appreciate it:
    1. It's in the past. There's nothing else we can do about it.
    2. American interest then was to take Philippines. Philippine interest then is to stay free. That definitely means war.
    3. American interest now is to contain China and probably a bit more. Philippine interest now is to take what is ours. Chinese interest is to take what is ours. A five year-old could easily figure out what's on the plate and act accordingly.
    4. Interests may change. But until our interests are aligned with the US, there's no point on doing what our Dear President is doing.

States would (should) always act based on it's interests. True to PH, US, and China. A skilled leader should be able to fulfill those interests, whatever it takes.
