May I ask for the exact address of this shop? Or a contact number perhaps? Thanks in advance.

RA motors specializes on Mercedes Benz. My mechanic there for Opel left for dubai already.

Try to call this shop first. KYLE (Ricky Chua's) 9256745. They specialize in Euro cars.. It is in teacher's village Q.C. Just call and ask for the exact address. They can fix almost any car.

BTW, what is wrong with the car?

Malakas na ang oil leak. Had it checked out sa CASA ang they said the oil pan is leaking. Then they quoted me an arm and a leg on the labor to have it fixed there.

I asked because I work near Delta (West Triangle).

Mura lang pagawa nyan sa labas. Nagkaganyan na din astra ko. Pina-quote ko sa casa and talagang mahal kaya nilabas ko (and I was even charged for that by casa). Sobrang mura lang ng ginawa sa labas. Gaskets lang pinaltan (molded black hard plastic/rubber actually ang itsura nya). Actually, any good mechanic can do the job.

Before it had a leak in the Cylinder Head Gasket. I had it replaced at Fronte. Cost me mga P750, part and labor na. THen after 2-weeks nagkaroon ng leak ulit. I checked the cylinder head area, wala namang leak. Dinala ko sa casa. A mechanic pointed to the oil pan, below the engine, but visible from above, and the oil pan was leaking daw.

Sabi din nung mechanic it would take more than a day, kasi marami daw babaklasin to get to the oil pan. That is why I'm looking for a shop that could do it for way less than casa price. Sa banawe kasi mahirap ng iwan ang kotse overnight.

Hmmm. I believe this is a simple job.

In your situation, The best place to bring the car is still in Fronte. For your oil leak problem, kaya matapos in a few hours lang yan. The advantage of having it done in Fronte is that sanay na ang mechanics doon with the astra and if ever you need some gaskets or some parts, di ka na maghahanap pa sa iba. Just call go there early or schedule it by calling them.

The other shop I mentioned (kyle) is also OK but you have to buy the parts outside which will be a hassle.

It took half a day for a mechanic in Fronte just to change the cylinder head gasket. The only thing they "disassembled' is the cylinder head cover. Nagtagal sila sa paglinis nung mga nalagyan ng langis na hindi dapat (like the spark plugs).

According to a casa mechanic, to get to the oil pan they'll need to disassemble more parts in the engine. I'll confirm this with Fronte din.

I can buy the parts at Fronte... it's not that far from my workplace. I'll try to call kyle na rin when I get the chance. Thanks.

    hi edl100,

i might have asked this before so pasensya na, can you recommend a place where i can have my astra serviced for its 60k PMS? i had the timing belt replaced already so it will be just for change oil, plugs, cabin filter and whatever else the 60k PMS recommends to be changed, it isn't indicated in the manual of the astra. thanks in advance!

A place to go to is speedyfix. The guy who owns the shop is from Auto Industriya. The labor is reasonable and magaling naman gumawa.

It is located in Santolan across Wheel Gallery.

    Caloystermx5:

look for Migs, the owner - 09175347636 Speedyfix shop - 7237625

Speedyfix does not have parts. But I suggest you get the motor oil there since mas mura doon. They have a gallon of Motul 10W-40 fully synthetic oil P1,700 inclusive of change oil labor but without filter.

Just get the parts outside. Preferrably thunder since they always come out cheaper than fronte. BTW, advocate ako ng replacement parts.

    1) oil filter
    2) spark plugs (get the oem opel)
    3) air cleaner
    4) cabin filter?? (I run my aircon without a cabin filter)
    5) fuel filter

I am not sure what else to replace by 60,000kms.

bro edl100, 'tis me again... where can you find the cabin filter in ASTRA? is it replaceable as well? or pwedeng linis-linis na lang. Everytime na i-on ko yung fan ng aircon eh may stale smell siya for about 5 minutes. I think it because of that...

By the way, thanks for the tip. I managed to removed the two plastic inside the air filter plastic canister (or whatever you call it ) so hindi na restricted ang air intake.

Oo nga pala, normal ba yung tumatakbo pa rin yung radiator fan for about 2 minutes after you turned-off the engine (car key removed)? ngayon ko lang kasi napansin na umaandar pa rin yung sa akin after I drove for about 30Kms (70km/hour)... parang feature yata yun ah

    thanks!

Hi, regarding the cabin filter, It cannot be cleaned but has to be replaced periodically. Parang air cleaner sa engine. After such time, dumudumi na masyado and di na malilinis ng air pressure. Cheap lang naman yung cabin filter ng aircon. BTW, I am not 100% sure of your cabin filter location since you have a right hand drive car. But it can be accessed when you remove the glove compartment. It is supposed to be on the footwell area. Just follow the blower motor tubing till you reach a rectangular area with clips. That is where the cabin filters are hiding.

regarding the radiator fan, you have a different engine. In the Philippines, we do not have the Z18Xe. It is normal for that engine for the fan to turn on for a few minutes even though you remove the key. I actually like that feature which is standard on most newer Volkswagens. The fan turning on shows that all your electricals, ECU, thermostat, sensors etc..are in perfect condition!! Just make sure the fan turns off.
