I hope you can solve your A/T problem. Update your status from time to time so we may be able to help. Sayang naman ma junk yung car.

Your problem is more difficult to solve since competent A/T shops that I know are in Quezon City.. I hope there is a good shop there in Cebu..

If they can do it, then ask THUNDER if they can supply all the parts needed for the A/T of the Omega. I am sure they can supply all the parts but they have to order it abroad which will take 3 weeks at least.

-- You may also cross your fingers and ask some insurance companies if they have a junked Omega lying around in a storage somewhere. There are times wherein there is an abandoned and damaged car from an accident. You can just buy the A/T for a reasonable amount.. --
Contacted Fronte yesterday. Talked to the owner about what happened to my car. He said he can rebuild the transmission for around 25K (that's less than 10% of the casa-quoted transmission). Well, I'm up against the wall already so I might as well have them rebuild it. I'm sending them the entire transmission assembly tomorrow. He is also giving me 1 year warranty on this job so I think that's fair enough. Will update you guys at once on the outcome. I'm crossing my fingers on this. Many thanks for your help guys.

Wow!! thats good news!! the quote of 25T is very reasonable. Rebuilding A/T transmissions is a common thing now, specially in banawe.

Almost everyday, may binababa na A/T transmission dyan for any car. A 3 week job in casa will only take about 2 days work there. Mura pa ang labor.

    Cheers!!

Bros, need ur help. My alternator and compressor broke down at the same time. My ride is a 2000 Opel Astra wagon, 90,000km mileage. Thunder said its 32K for a brand new compressor and 42k for the alternator. GM Chevrolet casa in San Fernando Pampanga is even sadder news, 45K for the compressor and 75K for the alternator. I would appreciate your inputs and tips. Thanks and God bless!

Bat kaya sabay nasira alternator and compressor mo?

Anyway, I also have an astra wagon 2000 model. nagpapalit na rin ako compressor last year pero around 30k lang price noon (pre EVAT). The GM Pampanga 45K is actually mura na rin for a casa price kasi GM Shaw quoted me a 69K price ng nagtanong ako noon. Btw, sigurado bang busted na ang compressor mo? Baka naman coil o bearing lang? If you're really on a tight budget, another option for you is magpa re-bracket ka para makabitan ng ibang compressor na mas mura.In terms of cost, more than half ma-save mo with this option.

As for the alternator, i'm not sure on this but you can try if pwedeng ma-rewind na lang yan para mas makamura ka.

    Keep us updated....

I think Fronte or Thunder have OEM compressors that are half the price of the original ones but just as good (at least according to them); but pls check the part they call the magnetic coil (around P8-11k) if i remember correctly, and if you get if from Fronte or Thunder baka mas mura pa. The CASA on Shaw diagnosed my astra's problem as the compressor but when I brought it to Makati, magnetic coil lang daw, that's what I changed and till now things are ok with the aircon. There's a cheaper alternative of just bypassing the IC of the aircon coil (edl100 tama ba?) mga P2k lang ata kung gawin ito but am not sure how good that is. As for the alternator I think it would be a good idea to check with Fronte and Thunder also as they may have replacement brands. Hope this helps and please keep us posted on the repairs.

    Alternator:

It can easily be repaired for about P2,500 more or less. Bring it to this alternator specialty shop in cubao. It is on EDSA on the right side when you reach the Bus terminal. It is just beside the Cubao pedestrian overpass on EDSA. You will see a BOSCH SHOP sign on your right. They are the best and the cheapest when it comes to alternators. I have experience with them and their service is very good. They did the alternators of Benz and BMWs..

    Compressor:

Try Caloystermx5's suggestion. and also try to canvass in EEB aire in Timog and ask for their suggestion. They sell compressors for the Opel there too. Another alternative is to call the Denso main office shop in Makati. There is a chance they can repair the compressor.

Thank you so much for all your replies. It is both very relieving and encouraging knowing there is a less expensive way to fix the problems. The aircon techs here said it is unlikely the magnetic coil of the compressor since the compressor is running when you switch on/off the aircon. Loss compression daw, hindi nag-papump. I asked the aircon techs here in Subic, QS-type daw yung compressor 3-bolts yung mounting, kaya it wouldnt work if I had it replaced with a Sanden or Denso compressor kasi masikip na space plus wala sila specialty tools since flower-type ang screws. I guess yung mga Manila shops na you mentioned ang pag-asa ko to fix the alternator and compressor.

I dont know why sabay bumigay yung alternator and compressor. I guess over-used but poorly-maintained.

Thank you mga bros. I will go to Manila ASAP to get these things done.

Jong, as for the alternator, for sure magagawa yan for a relatively cheap price in cubao.
But for the compressor, I have no expert knowledge of it yet. But I guess, you will end up buying a new compressor. So eeb aire quoted the cheapest at 29T. But if you have the time and patience, try coolmate if they can rebuild your compressor.

yung astra ko rin nasira dati compressor and alternator, respectively. magnetic coil lang naging problema, and had it re-wound sa tabi-tabing aircon shop sa old balara. 1.5k lang bigay sakin labor and materials. i even asked them if ever my compressor would break down kung makaka-source sila sakin ng new one for an astra and sabi nila meron daw at around 20k, since may ari may kilala supplier ng mga parts ng any car type.

yung alternator ko naman, IC daw yung nasira. had it home serviced sa bahay by a gm mechanic and qouted me 12k. yung alternator problem mo sir, try to bring it sa rey's (rey villa) electrical in 15th ave sa cubao and baka mas mura quote ibigay sayo. dapat dun ko dadalhin yung sakin dati kaso natakot akong i-byehe yung car baka kung ano mangyari kc, dont want to have to call for a tow truck, dagdag hassle pa.

    good luck sir!

The Eastwood carshow was moved to March 29 wednesday. They moved it in time for Summer school end.

The Astra on display is not mine so I am not sure of his mods..
