Hi!, sorry. It cannot be done. My neighbor is the head of the plate division at the LTO main office at East Ave. Q.C. I already had a similar situation but it really cannot be done even for V.I.P. with grease money. During the early 90's, it may have been possible, but now with the new administration of the LTO, it is impossible.

It may be possible to have it changed but I think you must have a very valid reason other than for "coding" purposes. It must be at least a confirmed death threat or for some security measure. Specially if you are a politician or a media personality. Still, the documents has to be done by a Lawyer and approved by the Police, NBI and the LTO to grant your request.

I remember I had a friend, a popular media personality of ABS CBN (initials K.S.) who wanted to transfer her personalized number plate from her old car to her new car. We already made letters and personal talks with the high officials of the LTO who has favors for her. In the end, she was not approved of this. We were only granted a personalized plate for her new car in any number and letter we like.

Still, I may be mistaken. The best way is to ask those scalpers at the LTO main office. Baka they might be lenient now.

as of nov. 2005, i got it for 30k++.mas mahal sa fronte.as for the brand, may naka-print noon sa box kaso di ko na maalala. But the replacement looks exactly the same as the original. Sabi sakin ni rick (kasamahan ni rene), its korea daw kaya mas mura. i assume sa ibang country lang gawa ang original and branded kaya mas mahal.actually, it didnt really matter much to me what brand it was or kahit saan gawa kasi, 30K versus the casa price of 70K+, ok na yun.kung may kasya nga lang na denso na around 10k lang, di yun na sana kinuha ko. kaso, kelangan i-re-bracket para mapaltan ibang klase compressor

Ohh. 2005 pa pala. I thought it was recent. I guess mas mura na siguro ngayon. I think this compressor is identical in specs and size to the one of a DAEWOO RACER or Espero yata as I remember when I was researching the part number of the compressor. As you know, DAEWOO shares underchassis parts, electrical and even aircon parts from an Astra since both cars are GM owned.
Actually, the stores and mechanics will not reveal this secret since they can make a profit from this.
I remember when I got a compressor for my W210 Mercedes, I told the store that the compressor is for a subic Toyota. Since mercedes benz uses Denso compressors. I just got the Denso Part number. So the quoted price was also for a TOYOTA. But if you say that the car is a for a Mercedes, mas mahal ang quote nila even though it is an identical compressor.

But it can be accessed when you remove the glove compartment. It is supposed to be on the footwell area. Just follow the blower motor tubing till you reach a rectangular area with clips. That is where the cabin filters are hiding.

regarding the radiator fan, you have a different engine. In the Philippines, we do not have the Z18Xe. It is normal for that engine for the fan to turn on for a few minutes even though you remove the key. I actually like that feature which is standard on most newer Volkswagens. The fan turning on shows that all your electricals, ECU, thermostat, sensors etc..are in perfect condition!! Just make sure the fan turns off.
    Hi edl100,

Kumusta na ulit?... Bakasyon ako ngayon kaya I have a lot of time tinkering with my rig. I managed to locate the (cabin filter) "pollen filter" as they call it here, noong tinanggal ko siya straight away alam ko doon nga nanggagaling yung stale smell from the fans. It is more expensive than the air filter.. yung air filter eh nagkakahalaga ng $16AUS whilst yung pollen filter will cost me $40AUS di kaagad ako bumili kasi iniisip ko makakabili ako sa labas pero sa mismong holden retail lang mayroon so maybe on monday i'll buy a ewplacement one.

Man, kung nakunan ko sana ng picture (di ko nadala camera ko eh) makikita mo kung gaano kadumi. almost blocked na ng pollen/small particles and insects yung mismong filter kaya pala halos maamoy na siya at wala ng pumapasok na hangin... sa ngayon ini-vacuum ko na lang muna until I got the replacement. I think hindi advisable yung walang filter doon...

kuwento na 'to... mahaba na hehhe..

by the way, yun bang mga ASTRA n'yo or OPEL to be exact eh puro star key din ang gamit na mga screws and nuts? thanks, hirap kasing maghanap ng kasukat na tools eh...

tinanong ko nga pala sa holden astra dealer dito.. yun daw dire-diretsong pag-ikot ng fan kahit turn-off na makina is a feature ng turbo-charged engine although alam ko walang turbo yung makina ko... so I don't know

    ganon pala yon. :arghhh:
so, stores and mechanics make killing profits sa mga ganyan. sana pala, alam natin yung brand and part number ng parts ng opel para makamura kahit paano.

I'm happy with my ASTRA overall... responsive siya, handlings and features yun nga lang mas mahal ang piyesa kumpara sa mga Japs cars. Just yesterday, I bought a new NGK sparkplugs at doble ang presyo nito compare sa mga ginagamit ng Toyota. pero ok lang mas magada siguro naman ang sunog nito kasi dalawa din yung part na nasa dulo nito (don't what its called)

update nga pala, just replaced my ageing Blaupunkt Tape Car stereo (that comes with it) with a Pioneer CD/MP3/WMA player. gumanda yung tunog...

pano mo nakabit pioneer? ano model astra mo? the astra has a built-in dashboard display for the car stereo. kung papalitan ang built in car stereo, in my case, philips brand, what happens to the dashboard display and yung volume/tuning/cassete control na nasa steering?

    Regarding a stereo upgrade.

I upgraded my stock GM blaupunkt tape deck to a Blaupunkt CD MP3 head unit.

If you change the head unit, the display on the dashboard would just be blank for the radio stations. The date, time and outside temp will still work. As for the steering controls; it will be useless.

I think there is some adaptor for some brands of head units from VDO and blaupunkt that can make it work as I saw those for sale at Ebay UK.

yeah bro... it's true. But I don't mind in my case kasi you can see the same info in the radio itself naman eh... sana lang hindi rin nawawala yung date kapag ini-on mo na yung radio...

has anyone experienced this problem with their astra?

yung gray cloth upholstery ng car ceiling, umaangat. it started about a year ago sa bandang harapan. maliit lang kaya hindi ko masyado pinapansin. but now, halos buong cloth ng roof ceiling, nakalaylay na.

for those na na-experience na ganito, san nyo pinagawa? any suggestion/s?

    to Guguly:

When you replaced your coil pack (ignition coil)

What were the symptoms? palyado? parang mamamatay ang engine?

I saw the old post and you got the DELPHI brand. How is it running now if you still have your astra.

so far, okay naman ang pinalit kong delphi replacement from thunder.no problem encountered. smooth ang takbo. sabagay, a few months pa lang ako nagpalit.

    Thanks.

Called up thunder and P7,000 yung Delphi. OEM GM brand is P11,000. P17,000 daw ito sa Casa.

So far, parang biglang nawalan ng power yung car when I was overtaking. Feels like it was running on 3 cylinders. But after, it returned to normal. Yun lang nga, i feel na lumakas sa gas yung car and the idling is not that steady anymore.

Anyway, the coilpack easily gets ruined daw talaga since sobrang init dito sa Pilipinas. Imagine, lutuin mo yung coilpack sa taas ng engine to almost 100degrees boiling point. It has very thin cables inside that can be brittle.

If I can only find a coil pack for a few minutes to check if the idling improves

    BTW
Palyado actually happens too when sobrang na-uubos yung gas and I run it with an almost empty tank. I read that running an ECOTEC engine with this ruins the oxygen sensor and the catalytic converter. It also fouls the spark plug too. Maselan talaga ang engine natin.
