boybi, hi!
Actually, i've read the whole discussion, and ung tanung ko is about sa oil viscosity which is 5w-30, would it be suitable, kasi ung sa nabasa ko na patrol 4x4.com which is australia base, some of the manual in thier ride recomends 5w-30 oil for all temp range which is the current daw. that country have a range of -25c to +50c outside temps, yet their manual recommends that type of viscosity, so that leads me to my second concern to use synthetic, because only synthetic oil is stable on multiple viscosity base. if this the current, then maybe i think the 5w-30 oil that i'll will have to put on my engine will be synthetic, but then again, i would then be playing with fire, so i ask this question to confirm and maybe someone would enlighten me, but thanks anyway for your reply...
good read ung sa patrol 4x4.com bout using synthetic and visco oil, pero australia un, not sa philippines, but mas mainit dun and mas malamig. kaya naglalaro isipan ko kung mag5w-30 and synthetic or mineral na 15-40, hay! gulo noh, hehe! guess magexperiment me, but then again baka sa umpisa ok, pagsa katagalan masira, huli na, kaya baka may nauna na dito sa forum na gumamit ng syn oil and with that range, and still going...
i did use 5w-30 n syn oil sa l300 for my guinea pig, very big diference sa stableness and performance, batak pati quietness ng engine, not much black smoke, only on very high rpm, very good! that is petron all terrain, but 4d56 un, without turbo...
hey guys!
nabasa ko sa ibang forum, mas importante pala na it meets ACEA b3 requirement , and JASO DH-1 compliant with minimum of CF rating... ito ang pinakabasis pala. hope this helps like me.![]()
i have a similar problem but on the front passenger seat side naman. medyo nababasa yong carpet. may tagas coming from the firewall pag umuulan. i removed the carpet and tested using a hose, may tumatagas nga ng pakonti konti. di ko ma-pinpoint what's wrong, kasi may nakaharang sa firewall na parang cardboard insulation, baka pag tinanggal ko di ko na mabalik. balak ko pabaklas sa casa pag nagpa-pms na ko, para makita kung san yong butas at matapalan. pero are there other shops na other than casa na familiar mag-check ng body ng patrol? mahirap kasi yong shops na pag- e-eksperimentuhan pa ang pagbaklas lang e![]()
Hi Guys,
I badly need your help. My 2001 Nissan Patrol 4x2 A/T has a annoying loud "hissing" sound when you put your foot on the accelerator pedal. Parang sumisipol habang inaapakan yung accelerator pedal. It goes louder pa as you accelerate. Pag naka idle with engine running and tapos i-rev yung engine, wala namang sipol. Pag free wheeling (say, downhill), wala din "hissing" o sipol sound. Na "repack" na yung mga wheel bearings and axle bearings on all wheels. Na checked na din yung belt and all the tensioner bearings, they are working naman. We have checked transmission fluids and power steering fluids, okay naman. Na check na din yung water pump, working naman. Yung brake pads for all the wheels, bagong palit lang. Palit na din ako ng cross joints. We don't seem to know where the problem lies. Baka po puedeng makahingi ng tulong kung saan po kaya nanggagaling yung problema? At ano po kaya ang puedeng solution?..thanks in advance...badly need your help.
Must be the turbo. It's actually normal to have turbo whine on turbocharged vehicles. Listen to Fortuners as they drive by in quiet villages.
I love listening to turbo whine. Who needs a radio? hehehe.
The Patrol uses a drive by wire system. Meaning your foot movements are merely suggestions as to what the engine will actually do. Maybe its smart enough to know that you are just revving it from a standstill.

'sipol' sound? i usually hear the sipol sound only when it's raining or the body of the car is wet(after a car wash). i really didn't mind it, i just attribute it to maybe some water accumulating somewhere on the body(the aircon recirculate vents yata tawag dun), and produce the sound pag nahanginan. i don't think it's a problem, unless magkaiba yong naririnig kong sipol sa naririnig mo.
may turbo whine po ba even if hindi pa nag-kick yong turbo? at what speed do the turbo usually kicks in?

...salamat po sa response...when the car is at standstill and engine running, even if you revv it up to 3000 rpm, wala namang ingay, wala yung parang sipol...it's when you start driving it...pag arangkada, you can hear the high pitch sound (not really sipol) parang "eeeeennnngggg" na high pitch sound...and as you continue to drive, lalong lumalakas yung high pitch sound....had the MAF sensor cleaned and changed air filter...pero the problem persists..will a "dirty" turbo intercooler caused the high pitch sound?...di ko pa kasi napapalinis yung turbo ng patrol ko...how to DIY the cleaning of your turbo?...what type of cleaner do i need? where can i buy the cleaner?...kung casa ko po papagawa, sa UMC Pasong Tamo po ba ang the best?...thanks po in advance for your learned advice...
Sir Senna,
You dont need to clean a turbo. ZD30 Garret turbo is not repairable, DIY or even professional cleaning is dangerous. Which side of the engine do you hear the sound, driver or passenger side? How is your power? Black smoke?
Have you checked the wastgate of your turbo?
i need a favor. could anyone refer a good mechanic who can do home-service? big problem..our patrol won't start. according to the mechanic who checked on it yest, kumatok raw. replies would be appreciated. thanks in advance!
Thanks for the responses. We took your advice and we decided not to do the DIY cleaning of the turbo. No black smoke, just that annoying sound when you press the accelerator. The more you press, the more it become noisier. Pero pag standstill with engine running then you revv the engine, wala naman yung annoying sound. We also noticed a tiny punch hole on the aluminum cover of the turbo. We don't seem to pinpoint which side of the engine the annoying sound is coming from. We have already check all the parts that have bearings (axle, wheel, belt, etc.), and they are all okay. We even check the water pump, steering, joints, and other rotating mechanical parts, everything naman are okay.
Maybe it's time to have it check thru diagnostics by qualified experts. I intend to bring my patrol to UMC Pasong Tamo (Are they any good?) . I expect na medyo mahal kasi casa. Guys, do you know a Nissan Patrol diesel specialist/expert on turbo yung mas mura magcharge compared to casa pero reliable, honest, competent and real specialist on patrol diesel turbo?
Thanks again in advance.
The first question an OBD technician will ask is may Check Engine light ba sir.
Does you check engine light even after start up?
A good service facility should have a Bosch KTS or a similar tool.
If you happen to pass by the Classmate, Pegasus, Heartbeat area of QC give us a visit and we will show you how we do diagnostics on Nissan Patrols GU\61 and show you a remanufactured VP44 and how we calibrate it.
Thanks for the response. Dinala ko na yung patrol sa UMC Pasong Tamo. I will let you know guys what was causing the annoying sound para it can also help dun sa ibang tsikoteers na may similar problem sa patrol nila.
Again, thanks for all the help.
Hello Everyone,
I just bought a patrol 2003 Patrol 4x2, i had it checks sa Pasong Tamo and they told me that i have to replace the ECU na daw, there was a check engine light that came up after putting in their diagnostic tool. Is there an alternative to this? The ECU alone will cost 55K. its now on the 60K mileage. I'm thinking of bringing it over to Diesel Clinic and have it diagnosed. I would like to have everything checked so that i'm confident that my family is safe inside the vehicle when we travel. Its similar to PMS of the "casa". Would you guys be able to assist me there?
thanks Ramon,
I will be dropping by tomorrow morning, is the clinic open on saturdays? what time do you guys open by the way?
Quick Question
- Do you guys do change oil for the Patrol?
- I did not put in the air cleaner for the patrol because i was advised by the "casa" guys that it would damge the MAF sensor. So im thinking to have it changed over there.
- Would you be able to provide me a certain price quote for the oil change.
