I'm really interested in getting a new strada. Everything seems perfect. HOWEVER, one thing turns me off whenever I get inside. The center floor console seems to be directly carried over from the right hand drive versions. The shifter frame is not driver-oriented but rather for the front passenger; as one would observe, its curve should go the other way around, leaving the "open, folded portion" nearer the driver. The handbrake, too, is misplaced. Finally, for the the automatic variant, the letters "P", "R", "N", "D", etc. are on the right side of shifter.
Here are some pictures for your reference..
This is the right hand driver version. The shifter frame (and the shifter guide for the auto variant) is perfect since it is oriented for the driver. The handbrake is also positioned correctly.
Here's the local version.. Mitsu's lack of attention to detail makes the pick-up look converted!
Just my two cents, no offense guys! I really like the new Strada. I just hope Mitsubishi can give more attention to detail next time!
if you ask me, the RHD people should be the one complaining because, the shifter is really designed for the LHD version...
im really impressed that they are comingout with a M/T version of the 3.2 4m41 strada....grabe siguro hatak nito.....![]()
Guys I have a question, in comparing the 2.5L(15 km/l) and 3.2L sa mileage would you expect a turn around like 10 km/l or less for the new 3.2L Strada?

Pajero owners get 13 km/l on the highways. But on the city, it is less than 10. I guess I have to check it again. But the Strada is more lighter, I think it will have a better fuel figures.

Yup, the SHIFT LEVER is made for the LHD versions for the local Strada. Together with this, there's also an inverted, opposite one for the RHD versions (see first pic i posted).
What I'm referring to is the BASE FRAME, not the lever or handle but rather the "floor panel extension of the dashboard". This is the panel which covers the hole in the cabin separating the SHIFT LEVER and the transmission itself.
Look at the second and the third pic I posted... Doesn't the second pic look more correct? The curved portion of the silver base frame should be the side more distant from the driver. Seating on the driver's seat, this curved portion should serve as a boundery between you and your passenger while the 'open' portion' should mark it as an extension of the cockpit. For the local version, it seems otherwise. Seating on the passenger seat, one would feel that the shifters are made for him/her. Just my thought..

Mukhang converted nga.But this issue was already tackled early in this thread.
Probably this is one of the reasons why the strada is priced low.
Nevertheless, all things considered, panalo pa rin ang strada, IMO.
I'll still go for it.![]()
Palagay ko ay cost cutting rather than paying attention to detail.
The inverted look is more evident in the A/T version. Handbrake placement, even if it's on the wrong side, is not that far. Mine is M/T so the gear shifter is closer to the driver making driving much easier.
