February 26th, 2008 09:45 PM #3976Hi All,
First of all I would like to thank all the contributors to this forum, I've read about every single page before making my decision in buying the Strada.
I am now a proud and happy owner of a black '08 GLS sport 3.2 a/t.
But here's the dilemma, shortly after driving my pick-up for a couple of days I noticed that at around 20km/h when I press and depress the accelerator there's a Thud sound emanating from under the front. Parang sa pinakailalim ng front part ng vehicle by the wheels or under the engine. And sometimes even at the back (as a service advisor in Mitsubishi noticed).
When i apply the gas there's a "Thggg" sound and when depressing the pedal, "Thgg" it will sound again. It doesn't sound all the time pero pag na-timing ko, i could produce the sound consistantly. It seems to exist only at a certain range. It only appears when driving on a level surface. But non-existent when driving on an incline or at high speeds.
Parang if I moderately apply the gas, ayon may sound na. But kung super gentle ang apak and bitaw sa accelerator, wala.
I was told by my Service Advisor that it was "normal" on 4x4 vehicles. I told him we had an older Pajero and it was 4x4, I never noticed a sound like that (then again I only drove it everyday for a month which I think is sufficient). Then he tells me (another advisor said to him) that sa Strada normal daw yon but to make sure, he will test drive two more Stradas to confirm.
I want to go back to the casa armed with as much information as I can get and I thought this was the best venue to gather that information.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any ideas? Thx in advance.

it depends rin what color and model. maganda talaga yung ralliart rims ng fieldmaster lalo na if you go creative and have it painted white or copper (Php950 each rim) and be in the sportier side of mitsubishi but you could also go to the more executive side and go 18 inches and get that euro look to your strada but 20 inches with super low profile tires aren't really matched for the shape of the strada. parang naglagay ka ng chrome na malaki sa eclipse or evo 8 (dun naka-patern ang strada kasi) chrome 20s are better with bulkier and squarer rides but maganda rin mag 20 ka na nga, fat tires ka pa..ang look mo naman nun would be australian off roader!

sir magnetik, its not a big surprise na the SA's are blaming the front diffrential of your unit, yun kasi ang pinakamadali pagbintangan ehhh.... you said na it happens on certain speeds and how you play with the accelerator, if it was the differential then it would sound everytime..... but did you check kung nakaengage yung freewheel hub lock mo? kasi if it was engaged it will really give you a different sound and feel. also have that checked, baka naka lock ang hub mo tapos hindi gumagana ang indicator sa dash

magnetik:
welcome to the thread, i'm glad the thread helped you with your decision. Now with your concern, let's wait for those who have the same engine and tranny as yours. ooba99, donT, eslonblue, and for the 3.2 GLS sports owners i hope you could help our newbie with his question.
i also suggest you test drive your unit with your service advisor so he can also feel/hear what you are talking about..be behind the wheel and let them hear what you are worried about.
arvincristy: diba wla na hub lock ang mga strada. i mean autolocking hub na sya unlike mga old time 4wd na manual hub lock. engage of the four wheel high/low is through the transfer shifter in the cabin?
Iyong 2nd MSDS walang bittering agent, Baka maka attract ng pets at daga?
