actually sir, setting the battery thing aside, i noticed that if you leave the key at the ignition /start setting after the heater lights have turned off for a few seconds longer than usual, the vehicle does go through a hard start...pero if you start immediately after the heater lights are gone the engine starts good!!!! weird!!!!
*sir thepatriarch
* sir Arvin Cristi
Confirm ko rin yang sinabi mo about the synthetic oil vis-a-vis oil filter change. kasi pareho tayo ng alam, parang baliktad ata yung sinabi ng service manager ng diamond.
That's really weird.
As per instruction by the chief mechanic here, one should start the engine after the engine check indicator light goes off which is around 10 secs after the heater indicator light disappears. Been doing that eversince, and still no starting problems.
Atty,
I checked the GS battery and it seems that it needs some topping up, although the fluid level is not that low, about midway from the plates to the cap. Not bad after using it for 16 mos. I forgot to have it changed to motolite. I'm quite happy with it, nonetheless.
BTW, the GS brand is also in my '07 everest. It is, most likely, made in thailand, so it's tropicalized as well.
Some would say ok lang 10k palit ng fully synth oil, some would insist on 5k. In the end, every 5k pa rin recommend nya.
exactly sir moxxx!!kaya ang ginagawa nalang namin ng mekaniko ko is change oil at 10K and filters at 5K, pero when i was driving 3K a month we did 5K changes for both the oil and filter....
as per sir thepatriarch, tama si sir tungkol sa price ng mitsu turboXp as compared to the other brands, MAHAL per liter!!!!! am planning on eventually changing to motul when the warranty lapses. i think sir boybit uses otul on his
sir boz, regarding the circular, you have to ask them about it before they say anything to you!!! really stupid way of doing business, were trusting them with our vehicles and they're too lazy to say anything about circulars or memos regarding maintenance!!!![]()
sir drave, i don't wait for teh check engine light to go out.... never have for any of my previous vehicles as well as my dads cars... considering his cars are GMC's and Ford's... the only thing really important with diesel engines kasi is the engine heater, as for teh check engine light, it's supposed to light up anyway if there is something wrong with your engine....hopefully it'll never light up while the engine is running for the next few years!!!

i forgot to mention regarding the GS batteries, the brand used to be a really excellent one coming from japan, it was the only real competitor for FB batteries. but when GS decided to start making the batts at thailand things started getting bad.... actually most of the stuff that ended up being made in thailand somehow get messed up one way or the other!!!! my heavy equipments used to be made in japan( no problems!!) but when they started coming from thailand( a whole pile of s_____ started happening!!)
i know our rides came from thailand, and sad to say they weren't exactly made the way that they could have been if they were made in japan....i.er. uneven doors, loose hinges, loose engine supports, uneven undercoating, purely RHD configuration for the transfer levers and sooo much more.
but putting all this into perspective, i still love my ride and i wouldn't want to change it for anything else right now....unless they came out with a 4th gen strada!!!!!

I posted this before. I still have the email coming from MMPC regarding synthetic oil. I am sure that some Service advisors are upselling their service to synthetic to gain more revenue for their dealer. Last statement from MMPC is every 10K change oil if using synthetic and 5K change oil filter.
Remember, although most SA would try to do their best or give their customers best offers/opinions, they are still work for their dealership and not really MMPC. It's best if we get the word from MMPC. As per Diamond Valle Verde, they allow us to bring in parts bought from ElDorado and just pay for their labor.
I guess that's why more and more people are giving Diamond Valle Verde better feedback on after sales because they are more equiped in handling our rides and better customer satisfaction. Again, this are feedback from people. I'll experience them on my 5K KM PMS.
sir av8or5, heads up lang sir regarding their service crew there, they are the reason why i decided to do the servicing of my unit at my own shop, medyo madami sila na o-over look when they are finishing up with their work, loose filters, messy engine(under the filter, hindi pinupunasan yung tumulo na lumang langis) loose hose clamps.... just give your engine a thorough visual check before you take it out... wala na yung dati nilang service manager dun kaya hindi kita mae-endorce para mas maganda ang trato sa sasakyan mo
Starting the engine (diesel-powered vehicles)
1. Insert the ignition key and fasten the seat belt.
2. Apply the parking brake.
3. Depress and hold the brake pedal.
4. Fully depress the clutch pedal (with manual transmission(.
5. On vehicles with manual transmission, place the gearshift lever in the "N" (Neutral) position. On vehicles with automatic transmission, make sure the selector lever is in the "P" (Park) position.
6. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position. The diesel preheat indicator lamp will first illuminate, and then after a short time go out, indicating that preheating is completed.
7. Operate the accelerator pedal as described below in accordance with the atmospheric temperature and or engine condition and then start the engine.
- When the atmospheric temperature is moderate or the engine is warm, start the engine without depressing the accelerator pedal
- When the atmospheric termperature is low and the engine is cold, start the engine while depressing the accelerator pedal
Note:
- if the engine is cold, the diesel preheat indicator lamp is on for a longer time.
-When the engine has not been started within about 5 seconds after the diesel preheat indicator lamp went out return the ignition key to the lock position. Then turn the key to the on position to preheat the engine again.
-When the engine is warm, the diesel preheat indicator lamp does not ocme on even if the ignition key is placed in the on position. Start the engine by turning the ignition key right to the start position.
