Hahaha, I know somebody will say that. Panay babae kasama ko eh. Wala akong back-up na magtutulak kung sakaling mag-stall. hehehe. Actually, there were some off-road tracks beside the river but we were in a hurry, kasi balikan lang kami. It's a 4-5 hour drive from Manila. Next time if I'll spend overnight there, will test the strada to the max.

I'll be going back to Laur next week. Will try to ford that river. There are some relatively shallow portions of that river which I know can be tackled by the strada. Will post pictures again.

Hi everyone! Just a newbie here. planning to get a strada this january. dapat december pero i decided to move it to january para 2008 na ang nasa CR ko. Anyway, i just have a dilemma. Early on i was convinced to get a GLX 4x2 2.5 since yun ang kasya sa budget. then i realized pag nagpiga pa ako ng bulsa, e mukang may kakatas naman na 200k more to get me a 2.5 GLS 4x4. Now, i think i really don't need a 4x4 muna. But my family love joy rides and mahilig mag out of town. So i guess magagamit din naman yung 4x4 feature. Pero buying a 4x4 will leave me very little money in the bank (nakaka-tempt kasi talaga yung 4x4!). Then again, baka pag 4x2 naman yung kinuha ko, baka magkaroon lang ako ng after-thought later on na bakit ba hindi na yung 4x4 yung kinuha ko. Haay... Now, question lang po, if you're in my shoes, would you get a 4x2 strada or 4x4? or 4x4 GLS 2nd hand nalang kaya?

    Thanks!

    brad,

even I'm a dmax owner (4x2 ) and dont own a strada, I suggest you get the 4x4. If wala pa budget, then postpone muna sa pagbili by january. konting ipon na lang yun and patience. malay mo biglang ilabas ung next upgrade nila ng strada by after january, so mas OK diba. I'm suggesting this because I don't want you to be stucked in the mud like me (4x2 lang kasi sa 'kin). 2 thumbs up sa 4x4. 1 thumb lang sa 4x2..

    +1
a 4x4 knows "no boundaries". Bring it where you want it. You will have peace of mind that wherever you will go, you know you will get back home in one piece. You wont get stuck in any rut, mud, manhole, sand, slippery surfaces, etc.

Realistically , does your family enjoy offroading?
My kids think the slex is rough enough for them

I live in the boondocks and I also have a farm I visit during the weekends
Pero ,more than a month after buying my sport ko lang naalala this thing has got 4x4
In fact , I've only got to use it once, trip trip lang
I was planning on bringing it up mudsprings trail, mt makiling puro slippery head sized rocks, boulders, ruts, dami landlide when it rains. But a beat up jeepney plies this route twice a day everyday, puno pa ng tao/baboy/paninda

Stick w/ the 4x2 and use the extra money on bling
I have the 4x4 , and I'm still waiting where I'd use it because I'm not going to use the vehicle I drive everyday pang hardcore offroading.

The *#$%%^ SLEX is really rougher than most moutain trails

Reading the other threads ( santa fe recall ) , I should watch what I say in Tsikot pala
Lots of fanatical car brand loyalists na madali ma offend
I've been hard on the strada dati, I'm not a car enthusiast kasi hehe my 02 lancer dati made me paranoid sa mitsu
Mu strada is now 6000+kms na , well broken in na
The shifting problem has gone away , smooth na rin
I've finally found the problem sa alarm system , the car wash attendant is messing w/ the settings! Tagal ko pa naman pinag aaralan what I'm doing wrong haha

I should stop complaining , because I bought it for it's looks
Being a great pickup truck is just a bonus

Pauland, tama si Allegra. If you think that your out of town trips won't include mountain trails, then the 4x2 would just be just fine. Kita mo siya, parang afterthought lang yung 4x4. Na-force tuloy siyang mag-mudsprings

Pero just a warning, Allegra, pag natikman mo yung 4x4, eh baka hahanap-hanapin mo na

4x2 kasi at open-type rear differential. Lesson learned.

For me, I'll buy the 4x4 anytime. You'll never know when you're gonna need it. Also, there's this sense of invincibility when you're driving one hehehe....
