Pag naka on ang headlight, yun ang pinaka malakas na drain, on idling. Sa Strada ko, it drops but holds at low 12+. Kaya pagnatraffic ako sa gabi, di ko napapansin na humihina ang headlights. Pero sa Montero at full stop traffic, humihina ang headlights at lumalakas when i rev the engine. Crosschecking with a simple multi tester, the Montero's voltage drops below 12, umabot pa ng 11.5 and going down.
Sinabihan pa ako ng Mitsu casa na normal daw yan. We did a check on 5 other Monteros and several Stradas at the casa's shop. Ganun din ang drop! Conclusion nila, that's normal. Ang sabi ko pa nga, bakit mas malakas ang bagsak sa montero, not as much sa strada. Sagot nila iba kasi sila. Sagot ko, paano sila iba, e pareho lang ang makina. Iba daw ang alternator sa montero at Strada. I pulled out the montero, at pinakalas ko ang alternator, bahala na kung ma void ang warranty. Wala naman sira sa loob.Brought both units to an outside shop, sinilip nila, pareho ang model number ng alternator! So I told the shop to swap the alternators. Bale, ang Strada alternator nasa Montero na, and the Montero alternator nasa Strada na, then continue to monitor the voltage. Ganun pa rin! Bumabagsak sa Montero. Hanggang ngayon, my strada has the montero's original alternator, and my montero has the strada's.
The only time ang voltage ng strada ko umaabot sa 11.5 pag bumusina ako. Yun nga lang kasi, ang nakakabit kasi both my montero and strada are their original horns, plus 2 sets of hellas (red color) on each car. In effect, 5 pieces of horns on each car.
Fyi, voltage drop does not happen as much on the d4d of toyota innova, or on kias with diesel engines, yung mga na test ko. Those cars hold at mid to high 12s at the lowest.
As long as the voltage holds and does not continue to drop when you add load by switching on your accessories, ok pa yan.
