Finalizing with our architect on the design to build a complimenting design of 2 adjacent house which will have ample space that will link both.
Parking is well planned [emoji4]
Happy with the design, will start working on building permit.

What's the ideal position / orientation when buying a property for residential? ... East, West, North, South? ... Long side north/south, short side east/west? ... For efficient light and ventilation ...

Morning sun is always preferred and wind flow is also important for me. Although if you can't find one, then architecture/lay out can fix it.
... feng shui it...?
seriously,
the first question in my mind would be the geologic stability of the area.
the second would be the flood situation.
third, how accessible is the property from major public roads and from utilities (meralco, nawasa)?
the rest, the house designer can probably address it.

My personal preference, house/lot is facing the morning sun.
If its not, then your architect can always recommend on how to improve the design to make it more suited to improve the ventilation or air circulation. If you believe in feng sui or not, it will not hurt to look at those recommendations.

If possible, buy the lot with the proper orientation so the house does not have to "compromise" with the design ... for proper lighting and ventilation ...
old feng shui saying,
"place your window facing the north, so's you can espy the hun as he approaches,
and place your door at the rear, so's the hun may not see you leave or enter the house.
heh heh.
West facing lots are nice because the front of the house facing the road can be mostly walls or louvers for privacy and the rear area which is the pool/lanai/garden will be shaded in the afternoon. The front of the house could also be used a breakfast nook with a garden.
However there is also a benefit of having the pool on the west side of the house because the afternoon sun will heat up the pool for swimming at night.
South is considered to be warmer than the north side.
IMO the orientation doesnt matter much from a design standpoint. However Feng Shui says north facing lots arent ideal but the work around for that is to place the front door perpendicular to the front property line.
Your architect can work around the orientation. You should also consult a Feng Shui early on if you intend to use such a service.
I would only avoid odd shaped lots (for medium to small lot sizes) and tumbok lots. Perimeter lots are sometimes ok, sometimes bad depending on what the road, village, or structure is behind.
Lot topography is another question, flat lots are cheaper to build on but wont offer much of a height limit advantage.
Id avoid putting your living , dining and bedrooms facing the west only because the heat is unbearable. I grew up in a house that was west facing and believe me it was sweltering.
Now if you have a resort with a view...sunset views are always preferred.
