Actually, okay lang dapat iyan kung isasaksak mo ang output ng genset sa isang outlet na may 30A na breaker, which I assume has wiring capable of accomodating 30A. Kasi 30A x 220V = 6600VA or 6.6KVA,- meaning huwag lang tataas ang genset mo sa ganyang power output.

And most importantly, turn-off the main breaker. If not, then the genset will be acting like a load (i.e. a motor) when regular power returns. Iyan ang delikado!

1.) 1 x .75hp windows type a/c
2.) 2 x desk fans
3.) 1 x 2-door ref
4.) lights

i haven't had the chance to go downtown; the malls usually carry powermate or kipor


i'm leaning more towards diesel types; imho mas delikado ihandle ung gasolina.

advisable bang bumili ng silent type, or just buy the usual type then construct some sort of housing for it, para madampen na rin ung ingay?

I would think a 2.5 to 3 KVA generator would be enough for that list of electrical loads with capacity to spare.

I like diesel gensets better but for different reasons:
-gasoline "expires" if unused for a long time.
-E10 gasoline and all those issues with ethanol

Yes! Very advisable to get a silent type if possible. Your neighbors will thank you for it as well as everyone else living in your home.

On a side note... I have seen some portable gensets that are LPG fueled. I wonder how much are those and where are they sold.

Noong 1991 energy crisis gumagawa ako mga genset. Ginagamit kong alternators yong MIN DONG ng China. Ok yon, carbon brush ang gamit at maliit lang ang rectifier. Lahat ng ginawa ko ay 20KW(25KVA*80% power factor) at ang ginamit kong mga makina ay FUSO 4dr5. Hindi ko tinanggal ang transmission, tapos sa 5th gear ko nilagay para 0.80 overdrive, kaya ang RPM ng makina ay 1440 lang. Tipid sa diesel, tahimik pa.

11 na bahay ang nilinyahan ko sa personal genset ko. Kaya kaya ang 4 na 2hp AC. Dapat may governor ang injection pump.

Ang nagawa ko noon mga 55 sets, parang hot cake, ginagawa ko pa lang may buyer na. Lahat umaandar pa at ginagamit. Yung sa simbahan namin sa height ng brownout, 12 hours straight kung paandarin, hehe. Sulit naman, kasi halos lahat ng nagpapakasal sa amin ginagawa kasi simbahan lang namina ng may genset!

i did a quick scan of the yellow pages...mukhang mas madami atang nagbebenta ng perkins o denyo. Does this mean they're the ones that are more serviceable here?
