Im not cpa and hindi accountancy course ko pero nung job offer sa akin ng smc we have same salary nung cpa. Lol. I dont know why gulat ako. Pero the finance head told us na san miguel dont consider a licensed one its good to have but not a must sabi nya. She further inform us na we will both undergo the same training. I ended up not getting the offer since mukang galit yung kasabay ko sa job offer. Hmmm. ''Experience will always speak for you.''

June 2nd, 2014 12:59 PM #104Know this though: the top companies here in PH will only consider graduates from the top 3 universities.
To be fair to the "top" universities, they do have better facilities. This advantage is especially obvious when you take up a technical course. And the best minds/teachers also tend to gravitate to the better universities, for the same reasons.
Back in HS, we only had two sessions of basic computer training monthly; some schools had programming as part of their currirculum as early as junior HS. Result? nagkandarapa mga schoolmates ko when we were in college, for the other guys it was just like an extension of their HS.
imho, if you can afford it, go to the better universities; if you can't afford it, prove the naysayers wrong

My aunt who worked at a bank had this observation as well. Gusto yung matataas na sweldo pa. i came from a "top" university( i use the term "top" very loosely) but i felt that i lacked actual skills, so i started as a PC engineer, taught myself Linux and Windows, bought second hand networking equipment at HMR and learned by trial and error.
Still not successful though, bad career choices :p

June 2nd, 2014 02:10 PM #106It does matter.
When I was looking for my first job, some companies will let you fill up forms where you'd select your university. It said, UP, Ateneo, La Salle, Others.
I hated it, continued the application but did not accept their offer.
In some companies, even grades matter.
I applied for a computer programming job. Finished the hands-on exam in 15 minutes. I got a perfect score.
The boss even asked me if their exam was too easy.
They gave me a job offer, but the pay was lower than the guy I know there, entry level too. He was an honor student.
I told the HR why am I getting a lower pay. We were both fresh grad. We took the same exam. We came from the same school.
She said that pay is for honor students. I asked, what was his score in their programming exam? How long did it take him to finish? She said it does not matter. I didn't accepted the offer.

Eto rin ang feedback samin nung college before we began applying for jobs. My theory is that akala ng mga conyo rich kids mamemaintain nila yung lifestyle nila once they start working without asking from their parents. Akala nila ang normal starting salary ay 30k pataas, regardless of merit.
But to be fair, kung galing ka sa magandang school, maganda org involvement mo, may honors ka. Mali ba na magexpect na you start a little better off than the others?

the reason why rich kids expect or demand high salary agad is coz they're used to receiving money without working for it
they're not gonna get out of bed for 20k or 30k/month... it's not worth the effortLast edited by uls; June 2nd, 2014 at 04:13 PM.
