An impressive record will get you noticed and probably hired, but it won't keep you there or promote you. In the end it is still about performance.

Not if the person graduated from a community college in the US...

Most students in community colleges go there to take up their general courses and then go on into major universities and colleges once they reach the majoring stage. My daughter, for example, chose to go to a community college first to get her general courses out of the way. She's already been accepted to attend the U of Arizona next spring. Most degree courses in community colleges deal with a more hands-on approach than a regular university. The curriculum is based on the inputs from local businesses who provide the standards they require to the college (they work together, hence community). There are actually local businesses (eg Raytheon) who hire graduating students on the spot.

If you ask me, I think community college grads are more prepared to work right away than those from conventional colleges/universities.

The courses you mentioned? Probably not much. They address behavior in the workplace. But, they don't address qualifications.

I can't believe that this kid has gone through over 40 interviews and not a single job offer? There's probably something wrong with his personality considering that he is an Atenean and graduated with honors.

Plus he should have never criticize BPOs on social media because you will get a lot of backlash

I won't be surprised if he goes viral. I am not sure if I understood his post but was he looking down at Accenture? I think IT employees at Accenture are paid well and get to travel a lot.

This was such a good topic on Twitter last month, until *a prof* [[redacted]] turned it into a topic about how university builds up your character. Yes, we know that, but we're more worried about the fact that Ateneo is a top university, so why aren't its graduates getting snapped up like lechon at a fiesta. Not all of us are rich kids [[redacted]]. Some of us have mouths to feed and are trying to figure out how to do so. #checkyoprivilege

I just don't get it, , me and my friends did everything right. We're DLs and cum laudes, we rose up in orgs and gave it our all becoming EB pushing the org to be better, making it financially stable. And we walked around the job fairs with our resumes, giving it out to all these companies begging for Ateneans to hire (because job fair is so ****ing expensive to sponsor, guys) and then what? We don't get ****ing hired. We go through rounds and rounds of interviews, and then what? We're not even being picky anymore. We're so tired. So, so tired at all this bullshit.

I dont know where to get good information on how to be what companies want me to be. I dont know what I'm doing wrong. I dont wanna work for some BPO though I'm so tempted already. I asked my "friends" how they did it and nobody wants to tell me how.

To the freshmen, sophomores, juniors, hell, even seniors. START PREPARING TOFIND JOBS. If you don't want to be some unemployed **** like me, who mistakenly believed that "i'm from ADMU, everyone will want to hire me, I'm going to be ok.", then you need to start panicking. Start thinking about what you're going to do when you leave ateneo. Figure it out while we still have time because i swear to god, i have too much time now and i think I'm falling into a depression.

My only comfort is a lot of other people have to make concessions too. How many SOM grads are in Accenture. Good luck to us, struggling smart people who realized we aren't that smart in the outside world. WE all have to make tough choices.
I regret all the times I paid too much attention to the drama happening in my block, orgs, friend groups, classes because now what? I get to relive the drama in between my 40th job interview???? None of this ****ing matters like nihilism says. i just want a job at nice multinational or big company, I want health benefits for my parents, I want to make enough to put my siblings through school. I just want to sell my soul for my family's comfortable living.

If anybody reading this has any ideas, any way to explain how to get a job in the ****ing philippines that doesn't ****ing involve having an uncle somewhere, I'm open to suggestions. If you know who can give me a step by step process, I just want to talk to you for 3 hours. Please. I'm so desperate.

I wish Ateneo had a class on "how to be hire-able" because all the advice I've been using is from LSOPCS and look, where that got me. Update yourselves, please. HR I asked for comments for keep telling me that what I'm doing is so outdated and isn't relevant anymore to the new jobs and industries. I am just dying over here.

Excuse me now as I edit my resume for the 54th time. Hopefully someone offers me a job with this round.

madami na siguro talaga galit sa Ateneo kasi naman tignan mo naman Katipunan pag sa lugar nila 3 lane lang pero pag sa Mirriam na di gano mayaman 5 lanes. ganyan magdikta ang mga anak ng mga mayayaman sa publiko at sa gobyerno. it reflects on them. sila may sarile special road.

siguro it's sending a message to all HR's out there, wag na kayo papasok ng Ateneo sa company kasi kukuhain nila lahat gamit ang talino nila later on. tapos lagi sila special treatment. katulad na lang ng nangyari sa katipunan.

^Guy's got issues. Feeling nya his friends are being selfish and not giving him advice with the "IDK, they just hired me" lines -- but this is true. Minsan, ganoon lang naman talaga. You submit your CV, hopefully get an interview, and then hopefully again do well enough to get hired.

Baka may something nga talaga for him/her not to get hired after so many tries.
