again..whats wrong with maids having a uniform? kahit pa ba may nakapaskil na "maid" dun..there is nothing to be ashamed of.
and there is NOTHING OTHER PEOPLE SHOULD THINK/ JUDGE of their amo's personality.
well, we dont live in a perfect world wherein all are enlightened. maids are still being looked down upon no matter how hard we try to deny it. We cannot change this with a snap of a finger, unless something magical happens. Its is imbedded in human culture since time immemorial.
so when one asks "so whats wrong with being a maid" theoretically, there is nothing wrong, but it in reality, it is not as simple as that.
That brings me to my point, change the uniform, then you might change the perception. Just my 2 cents
I think this all goes back to job discrimination as well.
I think in some cases maids have to wear uniforms, for propriety. I require my guests to come in appropriate attire, I'll expect my employee to do the same.
I think the problem lies in some people blurring the distinction between help and family also. I treat my "yaya" as family. She knows this, and I don't force her to wear anything, but in her mind, the uniform she wears gives her a distinction of proffesionalism.
A lot also comes from perception. Just to show perception, put it in the context of England, if a person who had a helper there let them go around without a uniform, some people would think that the employer is not treating the person proffesionally and more like a slave.
Sometimes the uniform can give distinction that this is just a job, and not who I am. I've seen people in the States just quit, take of their uniform and leave, maid, nurse or factory worker in an automaker.
For those who seem to make the distinction between a formal big corporation mandating uniforms, and the maid working for me, because I am one person, I think you are already presuming that there is a slave - master relationship instead of an employer - employee thing going on. The person does my bidding, the same way my uncle does the bidding of his boss, who is often a slave driver and condescending, but I guess this is ok to some people here since my uncle is earning in the millions. Which goes to show, now you are presuming again that my help is not being treated fairly.
I think if its an all white uniform, its a lot more presentable than those flowery designs ala french made.
Oh, my help wears casual at home, goes out, but during formal occassions, she chooses to dress up.
S
maid naman naka casual lg, pero i think it doesnt matter kung naka uniform o hindi. importante they are being treated good.
OT: uniform = for uniformity, in a big company, from a maintenance personnel , security guard to the clerks, trainees, to the head wears specific attire to be distinguish easily, they even wore ID, so as to teacher and student
maid, chauffer, cook wears uniform to be acknowledge that they live and earn decently, its not a matter of looking them only at the level of the ground, remember we all shits and piss the same=) peace
aba pati style ng uniform naging issue hehe so what part of the uniform do you want to change? Gusto mo ba yung style maid in manhattan?
Huh?it is not as simple as that.
well in this case siguro, people should stop judging others, "lest ye be judged " ... a lot of people are judgmental I agree, kumbaga breeding na nila, we cant control that. but a lot of people dont also, and they couldn't care less if somebody judges or makes fun of them in the background. sometimes, it's considered a cowardly act pa nga to judge a person behind his back.Originally Posted by BoyFerrari

pero kung ang message naman ng thread na ito is pasaringan ang mga tsikoteers na may mga uniformed maids. well, discrimination pa din yan class attack na, nilalahat na.
hmm, nkakatuwang bashin tong thread..
now, biglang pumasok ata sa isip ko ang "people skill".

ako kasi i see a lot of them almost everyday, and sometimes, i can see in their facial expressions na it's possible nga na nag-power tripping sila. pero wala eh, ganun talaga eh. some people show of their cellphones, some people show of their BMWs, some people show of their maids![]()

kung talagang naoffend ang mga katulong, eh bakit hindi sila nagrereklamo?
huh?! are you suggesting that only those who live in ayala alabang or the like have the right to require their maids to wear uniform? wow!Originally Posted by CLAVEL3699
Yes, if the maids look like these girls:
lol, Maid Fetish Craze in Japan... seen the news in CNN about Japan? ok ang business ng Otaku Cafe ngayon. patayo tayo dito sa Pinas!
just kidding... we are treated bad enough in places like Hongkong and Singapore. as long as we treat them good, with or without uniforms, ok lang..
mas Ok kung nasa Hotel o Mansion ang mag-uniform, di bagay sa Bahay namin. hehe...
after reading some words like envy, prejudice, has to be an employer to understand the issue, jologs, communist, marxist, reds, hypoctrite...there is only one thing that comes to my mind....
