Travs is right about the iStop. For my case I just turn it off right after starting the engine. My only concern with my 2.0L variant is the expensive enhanced flooded battery (EFB) replacement (more than 11k pesos). The battery should ideally last longer by regularly charging it with CTEK. For condo dwellers who don't have an access to a power outlet, regularly charging the battery can be a concern.
But sir, d ba the istop battery and the battery for the car itself are one? So the battery will will more or less die after 2 or 3 years, in my case I haven't turned off my istop since I bought it and the battery lasted 3 years yata, so you mean if I turned off the istop will it last longer?

Your road, traffic climate & use conditions may be batt friendlier than ours, good sir. You won't get iStop to activate as often when you do mostly freeways, I assume...so, it's as if it were OFF. This is the reason why the US never got the system. No use there.

Depends on the battery brand, turning off i-stop right after the engine started did not help me extend battery life, in fact it even shortened it, did not even last a year compared to not turning off which lasted 6 months longer.
As I've said it depends on battery brand, now using Yuasa, so far so good.
Yuasa was my stock battery that did not last beyond 1&1/2 years... [emoji26][emoji26]

Most probably, plus the CTEK battery charger.

If I may "edit" your post, I do a weekly long trip one way to work and another one going back home. In between is, a 3 km trip stop and go.
Right now, I'm not using the car for two weeks so I'm on CTEK for 24/7.
Yes, Motolite. First buy lasted 14 months fortunately still under warranty, replacement however only lasted 6 months give or take I think despite i-stop turned off. Second buy still a Motolite lasted more than a year, luckily Mazda finally ditched Motolite, and now I'm on Yuasa (replacement).
6mos? Motolite has a special stash for warranty swaps?[emoji44][emoji13]
Why Motolite doesn't market Exide, a Varta-competing foreign brand whose Oz-Asian division they now own, beats me.[emoji849]
Good thing Mazda finally went back nippon in GS Yuasa.[emoji106]
