What can you say? Worthy upgrade over the old model or not?

Didn't compare 1.5 to 1.5 so can't say anything performance-wise. Floor the throttle though and that smile-inducing exhaust note is still there.

The interior itself is tempting. Leather, rear aircon vents, center console at a perfect height, nice dashboard, HUD, etc.

The sound system is very nice. They rearranged the menus and buttons on the HU so it will take time to get used to. The "source" button is prone to accidental presses because it's on the steering wheel right below the "next" button.

The NVH got a huge upgrade. In my 2014 3 I can hear the music inside the car from the outside. The new one keeps the music in and the noise out. The doors close with a more solid thump.

I like the way the suspension absorbs speed bumps. It's softer and more giving but still stiff. The ride with 18s on this one is actually more comfy than the 16s on mine.

We weren't able to try the Eyesight-like cruise control. The 360 camera is a nice touch as it shows projected direction in both forward and reverse.

So will I be lining up to upgrade? If I wasn't paying for another car then it's 90% yes. What's holding me back is that I feel I haven't maximized my current 3 yet. Maybe in 2.5 years when the facelift is released.

The BP Sedan & Hatch NO-Drill Plate Relocators are in the oven....Unlike the BM & BN, these 2 don't share the same bumpers.

Sobrang bitin yung test drive route but the Mazda6 turbo is a really nice car. The fit and finish is great, the seats are supportive & comfortable. I wish I could have brought it to an open road to check how long its legs are. Turbo spool rpm is just over 2k rpm. It can get up to speed quick enough for my tastes.

I won’t exchange though my FXT for the Mazda6. I am hoping HondaPH will also offer test drives for the new Accord turbo. I know it will be a tight fit between these two great midsize sedans.

I wish Mazda will offer that 2.5L turbo on the 3. That would be surely more fun to drive.

I dropped by at the Mazda tent today to check out the new Mazda3. That soul red color is really eye catching. Somehow I find the Mazda6's front grill much better than the Mazda3. The rear taillight of the Mazda3 looks great though. The hatchback doesn't look really that impressive.

I hopped inside the cabin and I quickly noticed how dark it is inside. It feels claustrophobic. The feel of the infotainment control knob and aircon control is a bit disappointing, feels cheap compared to the BM/BN model's controls. The leather seats and plastic trims are really good to the touch. Looks good but not really that significant compared to the outgoing model.

The rear pillar of the hatchback is SOOOO huge! The rear window got smaller because of those rear pillars. It's comparable to Hyundai Veloster! Huge blindspot, that's going to be a problem looking out for those lane splitting motorcycle riders! Trunk space of the hatchback looks smaller than the previous model.

I didn't bother to book for a test drive. Driving around bgc at lunch time onwards on a Friday is not going to be an enjoyable experience. Perhaps on a Sunday it might be much better, take it for a spin around McKinley Hill and along C5's twisty part.

In my opinion, the huge bump on the price tag for the 1.5L base model is not worth it. If it comes with the Bose speaker and leather seats, probably. You can get a much better audio package with Mickey's Audiosound at a not-so-expensive pricetag. What I do like about the base model is that it comes with a complete seat of airbags but that's about it [emoji23]

Somehow my excitement for the new Mazda3 waned after seeing it. It didn't give me that wow factor compared to new Toyota Corollla (especially the hatchback). Better wait for the updated version after 2 years.

Good honest reviews from 2 of the keenest with years of Mazda familiarity. One common sentiment amongst BM/BN owners...the models we currently own are very hard to let go. I still have the same anticipation at each day's start as I did day 1....5years back.[emoji4]
And Jojo sir, that wow factor missed? Blame that on the BM/BN. They were a drastic positive mutation from the smileys. The kodo 2.0 BP took the path of gradual evolution....perhaps a bit too early.

It looks like a dark cabin is the trend nowadays. Here's the interior of the new Honda Accord

Good to see someone share the same sentiment. The knobs really do feel cheap. I remember checking out a Mazda 3 1.5 before deciding to get the Focus and I remember them feeling better in the old model. Ok pa rin yung older model, kaya makipagsabayan sa bago.

DIY'd an ex-daily's sagging headliner black years back. Hides the dirt, hasn't aged. And on tintless vehicles, dark interiors add a bit of camo. Works for me.[emoji106][emoji41]

Yeah, guess we'll all wait for the refresh of the new 3 in 2 years time. I still love my 2017 3HB.
