Nice! Another plate relocator for the new Mazda3!

Sir travs, do you use a 3D printer for creating the plate relocator?

And the No-Drill BP3 Relocators....The Sedan & Hatch DO NOT share the same 1. The bumpers are different.

With an Old engine, new body, they shouldn't have price increased it that much.

Guess Mazda could've done what Mitsubishi did w/ the Adventure...keep facelifting to keep the price....but they did not. Evolution & the upscale climb have their costs.
The engine is proven good, future-ready & time tested. Why fix what ain't broke?[emoji4]
The X is there, but even the US isn't ready..... Euro6.[emoji852]
Mazda is the lone lil badge pushing upstream against the flow, against selling out. They've given petrol some hope for those who aren't sold on E-everything yet....Hope to see this underdog continue pushing.

Are you sure about that? They've sold out to CVT for better fuel economy.

    Quality?

Leaked Documents Reveal Subaru Is Concerned With New 22 Outback Quality | Torque News

Torque news recently wrote about dealer concerns about the Ascent and the new 2020 Outback quality. Subaru’s U.S. National Retail Advisory Board wrote in a September 18th resolution, “We continue to be concerned that Subaru is not making the necessary investments and changes fast enough to ensure that vehicles are being produced with the quality the brand and its customers deserve.”

    ...

Subaru has also been stung with multiple recalls, and an April report says 70 percent of Subaru vehicles are the object of recalls or service campaigns within two years of being purchased. The report says Subaru wants to lower the recall rate to an acceptable 10 percent.

Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA), says part of the problem is upstream and the design team in Japan needs to get some of these problems fixed before they ever make it to the U.S. plant. Problems “should have been identified during development and pre-production confirmation testing,” the report said. SIA also sites "workforce instability" has been brought on by the rapid on-boarding of new workers as they get ready to start 2020 Outback production.

I have no concerns or issues with my FXT and its CVT. Do you have a problem with your Subie? Why be concerned about the Ascent and Outback? Are you going to buy one?

I guess all the rest (Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi) are not as good as Mazda for selling out to CVT.

I like the fact that the infotainment system supports flac. That warrants a hi-fi audio setup which is probably available with the Bose speaker package. I would prefer the Focal speaker brand though.

Let's not turn this into a CVT vs nonCVT thread, guys.[emoji4]
Nobody is claiming one above another. The point was about Mazda staying stubborn on continuing the Combustion push & CVT refusal. Giving the CVTphobic crowd & those who keep their vehicles long term an option. That can't be a bad thing, right?[emoji4][emoji111]

6 speed transmission is a stable technology compared with those with more gears. Mazda went for the proven gear ratio and just improved on it.

Yes it's true that more gears would result to better fuel economy, efficient power delivery, etc, but there are concerns as well. More gears, more complex the transmission design will end up.

That would be true. I just haven't really tried even all 6 gears of a 6AT. Hehe.

When i test drove the mazda 3, i only reached up to 4th if im not mistaken. Hehe.

It is just a curiosity for me. But 6 seems to be a good spot given we have 6MT for some parity at least in terms of complexity (or less complexity compared to the 8 and 9 speeds).

Curious how far the multiple cross partnerships between the japanese companies would intertwine the tech for newer models.

    Subaru and toyota - brz/86
Mazda and toyota - i think only the us yaris is the current product of this which is a rebadged mazda 2. But it should also be mazda being able to use toyota hybrid tech
Toyota and suzuki - new mpv? XL6 i think that is in development

Based on my experience with our Focus Ecoboost and Kona, a 6 speed feels like 5 speed in terms of shifting gears but the engine is more relaxed at higher speeds. For example, with our Honda City with the 5 speed, when traveling at 80 to 100 km/h you can hear the engine revving and it feels going like we’re going fast.

When in the Focus or Kona, 120km/h feels like 80km/h. Sometimes I don’t even notice 130km/h na pala ako.

    That's good to hear then.

I was a bit worried for those with 8 or 9AT that the car might suddenly go gear hunting between 1st and 2nd like the Ford DCTs when in crawling traffic and become "undecided" on which gear to stay in while in a crawl (speed range was between 10kph to 20kph when I experienced it). I know the DCTs are also a different beast from the 8AT and 9AT but I couldn't fathom the 7th, 8th and 9th being all "overdrives" from where the current crop of 6ATs or 6MT gearing. That's why I couldn't imagine how they "spaced it out".

But if the spacing gives it more speed for the same low rpm at top gear, then that feels more reassuring that the lower gears aren't too close together. =)

One of the vital reasons for all the added tech is to increase dealership service dependency.

Another reason is the ever increasing pressure from government regulatory agencies to cut down on emissions. Car manufacturers have to think up innovative ways on how to comply. DPF anyone?

There was this report from Australia about DPF malfunctioning with the Toyota diesel engine.

Toyota Australia: Class action over filters could affect 25, cars

Dieselgate is another example. You'd think its only Volkswagen using such defeat device to cheat on emission tests. BMW, Mercedes are also doing these. The German gov is just turning a blind eye on these scandals.

    Volkswagen's nightmare ain't over yet.

Just saw one on the road in Alabang this afternoon. Looked like a Mazda agent was driving it back to Mazda Alabang. Soul red sportback. Nice front and rear. The C Pillar will take a little getting used to. Still not feeling it ...yet. But I still like it more than the sedan. Now I'm excited to see how the facelift will look like[emoji16]
