Got friends w/ Civics & Skyactivs. Plenty of worthy models from various badges out there....but it's getting to be more common to see stables w/ 2nd or 3rd servings of Mazda after their 1st taste. Just recently, I just learned of 1 looking to add a CX9 to their 3 & 2.[emoji106]

I'm fine without the album art shown at the screen, actually I prefer the minimalist screen. I guess there's a compelling reason for me not to update my infotainment system [emoji23]

If the update will provide an option that will automatically shut off the screen after some time (savagegeese was disappointed that there's no option for this with the new Mazda3), now that's something I'll go for [emoji16]

I like a bit of color on the screen

Turning the screen off takes just a few steps:
1. Press Home
2. Two clicks of the dial to the right (settings)
3. Press dial
4. Press dial (turn screen off)

IIRC it stays off the next time the car is restarted. It turns on when reversing and off again. It only stays on when you receive a call or SMS.

My wife borrowed the car (getting more common lately) and she asked if the HU was busted because the screen was not showing anything. Ooops.

Nah, too much hassle for me (laziness is a virtue for me, kudos to Larry Wall). The easiest workaround for me was to lower the display brightness to the minimum. Less distraction for me, more focus and enjoyment with driving [emoji12]

That won't work for me. Been spoiled by OLED phone screens. It's either on or black. Any shade in between won't do.

And the missus is looking at OLED TVs. There goes the downpayment for the new Mz3

Check the service history. Test & feel the car, sir. Got an early '14 here, 1.5Sky hatch & have no plans of letting go. It has been a loyal reliable.[emoji106]

In addition to sir Travajante's tips, do check the car's body for indications if the car was flooded or got into some serious accident. If the owner can show the preventive maintenance service records from the mazda dealership, the better. Ask also if the owner regularly applied the authentic mazda fuel deposit cleaner every 10,000km.
