The Best Car Interior Available for Under $30,000 Is in a Mazda

The*Mazda 3*is a model of simplified excellence; an affordable, everyday car that's stirring to operate and pleasing to sit in. While our praise, including two consecutive 10Best awards, often highlights the car's tossable chassis and eager engine, it's the 3's interior that allows its driver to fully enjoy those elements.

That's no small feat given the Mazda's pricing, but the 3's cabin is as clever as it is classy. Mazda nailed the seating position and primary-control relationships. And the 3's minor controls are designed to minimize driver distraction, allowing eyes to stay on the road. In Touring and Grand Touring 3s, a flip-up screen atop the instruments places vehicle speed right in the driver's sightline, while a large central tachometer dominates the cluster. The navigation-and-entertainment unit takes its cues from luxury cars, with a bright, seven-inch center screen parked high on the dash and controlled via an intuitive knob on the console, or, if you prefer, by tapping the screen itself.

Mazda's interior décor is well-wrought, clean yet interesting, and has just enough detailing to feel upscale but not overdone, much like the 3 as a whole. It'd still be a good car if it had a simpler—and cheaper—cabin, but the fact that it doesn't is, in part, what makes the 3 such a winner.

Sir, pwede malaman exact model ng Amaron battery gamit mo? Need to replace mine for M3 2.0R bought May 2014. So lapit na rin mag-3 yrs stock batt ko. I'm already getting the 'battery management system malfunction' warning signal.

I've checked with Makati branch, aside from the motolite battery cost, they also charge 2K+ for reprogramming of car computer. Pasig branch didn't mention any cost for reprogramming. Appreciate much if anybody can confirm on the cost. Thanks.

1SM, N75D23L should be identical to stock batt size. I hope Amaron will be worthy experiment. Start/Stop batts are best AGM or at least, EFB....of which a world renowned brand will make available locally.
Please keep us posted on the Amaron endurance w/ iStop....one for the archives. Thanks.

My M3 came out of the dealer with 44psi on all tires. I know Mazda recommends 36psi with 1 or 2 passengers and 41psi front and 46psi back when loaded with 5 passengers with cargo. Should I keep it at 44psi or should I already drop the tire pressure? What's your tire pressure tsikoteers?

drop the pressures, sir, to the recommended numbers.
many brand new car deliveries suffer from the same condition.
i believe the over-inflation was intentional on their part.

Diagnosis on tranny and engine malfunction is ignition coil needs replacement. ordered parts estimate 2weeks. :$ Anybody had trouble with ignition coil before?

Off topic, if battery is starting to fail, will there be any warning signs in our dashboard? If yes what's the sign? Thanks!

That's relieving news! Ignition coils do fail. Diagnosed & replaced 1 on a buddy's petrol Prado. He bought used & it worked. First I've heard on our model though. It's minor if that's the cause of troubles. Warranty still covers you, so you're good. New OE ones on eBay are sub$100ea. Used ones are around $30.
A failing batt does give crazy symptoms on cars' dashes. Sometimes gauge pointers go crazy. On mine, it just failed to start. Weak cranking. Let the dealership do a batt health check. Please let us know.

    i am curious.
is it really an ignition coil, as in, wire wound around a metal core?
    or is it solid state?

Flukes happen. The Prado that had a faulty coil was young & had just 30ish k kms clocked.

If you're upsizing, look for lighter wheels to bring the wheel-tire combo weight as light or lighter than the 16s. Decreased unsprung rotational mass is 1 of the easiest ways to get your car be more responsive in power, steering & braking. Reduced tirewall height will naturally compromise comfort....but w/ our 3s, not by much. Many are even on 19s.
You'll be fine. Go for a good light branded one that fits your budget. Check our very own...Rota.
