KBB.com votes Mazda 3 compact No. 1 for third year running

"The Mazda3 is No. 1 once again for 2016, marking its third straight year in a row of capturing the top spot and notably being featured on KBB.com's annual affordable "cool cars" list every year of the vehicle's 13-year existence.

Proving that cool and affordable really can continue to coexist, the experts at Kelley Blue Book kbb.com, a reputable vehicle valuation and information source, have named their annual list of the 10 Coolest Cars Under $18,000.

The Mazda3 is No. 1 once again for 2016, marking its third straight year in a row of capturing the top spot and notably being featured on KBB.com’s annual affordable “cool cars” list every year of the vehicle’s 13-year existence.

Two longstanding criteria — fun-to-drive and fun-to-own — are critical among the deciding factors of what the editors freely admit is a very subjective “cool factor,” the over-arching No. 1 criterion for a vehicle to place on this list.

Each vehicle is available for purchase starting at $18,000 or less, using Kelley Blue Book’s exclusive Fair Market Range as the yardstick. Kelley Blue Book Fair Market Range is part of KBB.com’s Price Advisor tool, and shows the range of what consumers can reasonably expect to pay this week in their area for a new vehicle when purchasing from a dealer.

Factors such as current market conditions, vehicle availability, local demand, and seasonal buying trends all help determine a vehicle’s Fair Market Range and Fair Purchase Price.

“Cool sure has come a long way. Our annual Coolest New Cars Under $18,000 is one of Kelley Blue Book’s longest-running lists, and it’s incredible to see all of the amazing tech features and amenities you can get on an affordable car these days compared to a decade ago,” said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book.

“In our eyes, the combination of cool and affordable doesn’t get better than the Mazda3, which has been on the list every year since it debuted and snagged the top spot for three years running. Gorgeous and sporty outside as well as inside, the Mazda3 backs it all up with fun-focused driving dynamics with praiseworthy fuel efficiency.”

Hindi ka naman nila pinagbabawalan ano gusto mo gawin, pero may sarili rin sila interpretasyon ng warranty policy. Anyway its only 3 years.

Agree, its up to us, if you want to change your rims, or lightings, horns etc, decision na lng owner un, actually, iba naman dito sa China, walang yojin 3 like sa atin diyan sa pinas, yung free lang is the first pms, after that, may bayad na , thats what the service advisor told me, anyway, 2nd pms ko is next month, malalaman ko kng sisingilin nila ako or indi.

BTW, magkano ba insurance nyo diyan, parang sobrang mahal pala insurance here, i paid if converted to peso is around 34k.

Sir Travajante, I inquired from one distributor here in China, they said that racing beat only has for 2.0/2.5 and none for 1.5, if I'll order one here, what mods or adjustments will it require? Mine is a Mazda 3 sedan, Tia.

If the piping size is different for 2.0 vs 1.5, you will need a pipe adapter.

Naku sir, kng pwde lng sana ay matagal na akong nag order ng plate relocator kay sir travajante, yung problema lng kasi ay yung grill nyo diyan and yung grill dito sa China ay iba, behind that plate ay may open space, that if you look at it without the plate ay parang may bungi yung car hahahaha

Just file the 2 RB flange bolt holes 3mm wider each towards the RB midpipe hole. Only takes a few minutes. This aligns to your stock midpipe flange for the 2 bolts to fasten tight. No other tweak needed to make em fit.

I found a distributor in HK for racing beat, problem is they're discouraging me to buy it as its not for suited for our 1.5, instead, they suggested to order autoexe exhaust mufflers, what your take on this particular brand?

Question is...have they tried it on one?
I've Racing Beat on a 1.5HB. I took the plunge before anyone probably did & was ready to tweak if it had fitment issues. Luckily, only the 2 bolt holes needed slight widening. Quick & easy. It definitely frees up the flow, which is the main purpose of aftermarket exhausts. What you don't want is the opposite...fit an exhaust w/ a smaller bottleneck inlet to a larger midpipe. After about a year, I'm still smiling at the tone & added horses, more real than imaginary.Haha.
Having no 1.5 M3s in the US is the reason why RB doesn't do or list 1.5. Autoexe, being nippon, should have it. It's a known brand but I've no 1st hand take on em.
The easiest way to determine if the stock axleback is restrictive or has room for upgrade is to dyno the car with & without it.
All I can share about the RB is positive....well built, precise fit/alignment, uses all stock mounts, lighter than the stock 2.0, enhances performance, sound & look. What more can 1 ask or long for?
By the way, please note that mine is a hatch. I haven't verified nor compared the sedan's fitment.
Keep us posted on your choice, sir.
