It simply states EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) developed for Start Stop Engine. The Yellow Top is an AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) type of battery. Some others are the Gel type. All 3 variants can come in deep cycle. Most batt companies offer either EFB or AGM for vehicles w/ start stop.

I'm honestly not a fan of the above brand. Long lost faith after several traumatic misadventures with many of mine. I hope this 1's different. If there's a Yellow Top of the same rating & size, that might be better option. The latter usually needs some bracket & cable modification to fit.

On warranty, Mazda & other makes only cover 1yr for the OE that comes w/ the car. Your next one will have whatever it says it will cover. Some 15, some 18, some 24 mos. I forgot to ask the warranty coverage by Motolite on this 1.

Thanks to those who replied re yoijin consumables on what should be replaced and when, like someone said, it is also stated in the manual as well, para sa mga di nagbabasa ng manual tulad ko haha.

Gotta watch out what they must replace on my next pms under yoijin, greenhills looks to be shortchanging me on must replace parts, SMH To those who should have a replaced cabin filter, does the replacement filter have a frame colored black or white? My understanding kasi replacement filters have white frame, black is from factory.

On the topic of k&n air filter, i said dont get the the drop in k&n since i put one on my bmw, and no difference in sound and performance while doing alternating test with it when it was new vs a new oem paper filter, whereas when i put the fipk/typhoon on my honda, definite sound difference and a little more pull on the top end. Never did i measure both via dyno, so who knows if its placebo. At the end of the day i bought and will buy the typhoon again because it looks and sounds cool, will rumble only when you floor it, never did it give any cel light, nor engine problems given its my daily driver and used to be weekend track car. Almost 40k kms na din on my counter. Cruising and city speeds it sounds stock. But for drastic performance, i wouldnt, stickier tires and better brake pads will net you better performance/lap times on the track, hehe. Who knows maybe performance in the drop in filter is car dependent but after my experience in my bmw, rather not buy again.

On the gentleman who experienced flickering istop telltale light, when does it flicker? Soon as you start car? Soon as you press the off istop button? Is it flashing constantly regardless if istop is on or not? Asking this because since brand new mine flickers all the time while istop is on, and i just lightly step on the brake pedal. Light enough for the car not to move but not activate istop. Press a little more then the flash stops and istop shuts the engine, release pedal and car starts, depends on the system charge, istop light lights up (solid yellow) once more immediately or after a few seconds.

Also, do you experience other bad battery symptoms like hard cold starting?

Mazda North EDSA has an open service bay so you can actually look and interact with the mechanics.

The "hagok" sound we all love is muffled in a stock airbox. K&N is still value for money, how much is an OEM filter w/c you have to chuck away every few thousand kilometers? Never had a problem with CEL when I had one in my Lancer.

Nice to know that dealer allows its customers to oversee the work done. Unfortunately i dont have time to wait while they work on the car all the time. Dealers make service a bureaucratic city hall like experience that even dropping the car off takes a good hour of your time, and thats across all brands.

5:1 ang cost ratio without cleaning kit, and my bmw didnt also have a cel light. But choosing between the typhoon or drop in, all im saying is my vote goes to typhoon, as i didnt get any little perceived performance at all with drop in. Plus no look or sound enhancement as well. Given my low mileage, baka 10 years before i get the cost effectiveness advantage of k&n over mann oem filter. And no way will i remove the already efficient CAI like duct and tubing of the stock bmw intake system just to get the sound.

Did you put drop ins in your 3? Nag tanggal ka din ng tubes to get the sound? How is it?

I have a 2 not a 3. No upgrades yet till Yojin 3 lapses. But I have a drop-in K&N in my Sorento (I remove and replace with OEM every casa visit). Hard to hear the difference in a diesel with a turbo.

Oh btw when I sold my Lancer, I took out first every bolt-on upgrade before selling. I actually sold the 4-year old pod K&N filter separately for just a little less than brand-new hehe.

    * Sir Balongbalong, sorry for the delay. Upon pushing on the engine, immediately the M3 analytics did expectation & immediately appeared on the screen with a flickering istop.

14.5k cost of the batt with only 13 mos warranty. Casa was Mazda Q Ave. My wife was clueless on the cost. A good explanation on the battery would be appreciative from Mazda sana like Sir Travs!

    Hi all,

mejo OT yung question but dito ko na lang post, eto lang kasi yung car forum na pina-follow ko lately.. hoping someone can help

anyone here have tried buying body kits (side skirts, splitters, etc) or large car parts from US? anong forwarder gamit nyo?
sobrang matataga ba ako sa shipping cost + duties and i'm better off having it custom made from shop like TMC?

yung buong set of skirts and splitters kasi sa US, mas mura pa compared sa 1 pc side skirt ni Casa, and i can't find a shop here that have body kits for my car

    TIA!

Customs is the unpredictable variable. Hit or miss. Expect around 2-3mos or even longer by sea. Should you want faster, Johnny Air can get it over quick but be prepared, shipping might turn the part impractical. Try local kit fabricators like Clifford.
And oh, you know most require drilling, right? I'm kinda rustphobic, you might wanna be too, aRTie sir. Prep, prime & seal those holes properly!

    * sir Travs

Thank you for the feedback and for the advice!

Had my ducktails installed at Clifford's and last time i asked, they no longer do customized kits.

I don't think i'm willing to have it shipped by air though, you are right when you said it would be impractical, shipping fee for the fog light kit alone for my car already costs Php 7k thru JAC. I'm actually looking for a reliable sea forwarder if anyone have already tried one since the parts are made of plastic and with irregular shape, making them highly likely to get damaged during transport.

I'm also thinking of trying 'The Master of Customs' since they have a newly opened shop near my area, but i have no idea of the quality of their work.

    * sir kumagpoko

2nd gen 3 sir yung car ko kasi. very scarce yung accessories sa mga shop here sa Pinas, unlike sa ibang market like US and Australia where unit sales went really well, daming available kahit sa amazon or ebay

usually sa ebay US ako kumukuha pero so far mejo maliliit na parts pa lang nabili ko

From: 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata named World Car of the Year
2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata named World Car of the Year

Toyota Mirai, Audi R8, and BMW 7 Series also honored.

Kicking off Day Two of the New York Auto Show, the World Car of the Year awards are finally being handed out. The overall winner is, as God himself intended, the Mazda MX-5 Miata. It beat the Audi A4 and theMercedes-Benz GLC-Class.

The unique thing about these awards are that they aren't limited to the US domestic market (that's why they're called the World Car of the Year awards). For example, nominees for the overall award included the Skoda Superb, Renault Kadjar, and Subaru Levorg. In the Performance category, the forbidden fruit was repped by theHonda Civic Type R. But both the Civic and the Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe were beat out by a far more expensive competitor – the new Audi R8.

The fourth-generation Toyota Prius and the second-generation Chevrolet Volt, were two of the big finalists for the World Green Car of the Year award. They both lost out, though, to the Mirai fuel-cell car. Yes, a hydrogen car beat out two of the world's premiere hybrids.

The luxury race that was perhaps the hardest to predict. That's because each of the three finalists have received near universal acclaim. In the end, though, the BMW 7 Series beat out theAudi Q7and Volvo XC90.

Finally, we have the World Car Design of the Year, where the overall winner (MX-5) and the Mazda CX-3 faced off against the new Jaguar XE. While both the CX-3 and XE are handsome vehicles, the WCOTY committee realized the answer is always Miata, and awarded Mazda's iconic roadster another 2016 award.

Nice dead pedal there, balong sir. The Chinese ones are pretty easy to slip on.

Sir Balongbalong it was amber. The battery was replaced by Mazda QA, unfortunately the battery replacement is from Motolite. Everything's ok & I'm into prayers as advised by Father Travajante.

Sir Balongbalong amber color. The reeplacement by Mazda QA with Motolite was so far ok. I just had to pray harder says Father Travajante. I just could not attach the pics of the istop light & screen its a little more complicated. TIA.

Here's more on Start Stop Batts & options out there.....

    1. The Better but No Hobo Option:
    Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) Batteries
(Like the Optima Yellow Top & Varta Silver Dynamic AGM...most VARTAs come w/ DIN specs & dimensions for Euros...
DIN stands for ‘Deutsches Institut für Normung’ which means ‘German Institute of Standardization’.)

AGM batteries use glass mats between each plate that absorb the electrolyte. The whole series is then highly compressed to produce a similar chemical reaction to a conventional battery, only with significantly less acid. It's primarily this compression that makes an AGM more efficient than conventional batteries.
The close proximity of the battery plates reduces internal resistance and increases the ability for the battery to accept a charge from the alternator, allowing the AGM to discharge and charge more easily. This makes them a great fit for stop-start vehicles. AGMs also tend to be more durable, being better able to tolerate vibration and cycling.
Despite these promising characteristics, however, AGMs tend to be used only in high-end European cars. This is mostly due to cost – their higher lead content and more complex manufacturing process means a higher price. And the compression in an AGM necessitates specialty assembly lines and construction equipment, making the production process more expensive too.

    2. The Practical Option:
    Enhanced Flooded Batteries (EFB)
(Like the Mazda Q85 & its equivalents:
Motolite D23Q65 iStop, Panasonic Blue CAOS Batt N100D23L/C5, Bosch 95D23L, Century Australia Q85, AC DELCOSQ85D23LEFB)

A new and improved version of a lead-acid battery, EFBs represent the happy middle ground between the conventional batteries and the more advanced AGMs due to their cost effectiveness and efficiency.
EFBs feature a flooded plate arrangement (similar to a conventional battery). Importantly, they can be assembled using existing battery production lines, which greatly reduces the cost of making them.
In some ways, EFBs offer the best of both worlds – they still have the cycling ability of AGMs, but because they're still a flooded battery, they can actually accept charge more efficiently than an AGM.
Widely used by Japanese and European car manufacturers in their stop-start vehicles, EFB batteries are still an emerging technology here, w/ Mazda sanctioning Motolite to do a 65ah EFB for iStop. The Q85 is a lead-acid EFB for start stop vehicles as stipulated in specification S0101:20006 released by the Battery Association of Japan, with Q referring to the outer dimensions category, and 85 referring to the performance rank. The outer dimensions and electrode specifications conform to the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) for D23 batteries.

On warranty comparison, Bosch Japan D23 EFBs have 18mo/30k km coverage for Mazda iStop vehicles.
On cost comparison, the Bosch 95D23L is about Sg$250 in Singapore.

    Hope this helps.
*chekers, grats on the new Motolite. Hope it lasts longer than the 1 that came w/ your car. Please get back here when that time eventually comes for archiving. Thanks.
