Hmmm. Just realized the 86 has a 40hp advantage but can't be faster than the MX5 ND.....which is 200kg leaner. Impressive.👍
As Colin Chapman of Lotus said: Adding power makes you faster on the straights, Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere.
I've always wanted an MX-5/Miata roadster, but the current ND doesn't appeal to me. I much prefer the NA with the pop-up headlights.

Good question I've been asked a few times.....
Firstly, I respectfully would say, I'd never ever brave floods....Not of having a relocated plate, but of being well too anal & consccious of the permanent & costly damages floods can inflict on cars. We have too many more vital & expensive worries that should take over us when thinking cars vs. floods than the relocator...So, please for you & your cars' sake, steer clear & off those areas.
That said, the kit comes w/ a backer that is bolted on/thru the relocator block & braced around & behind the lower grille. This serves as a good backbone & double protection wall to your front LTO plate & the bumper edge. It's definitely not as delicate as any of our previous DIY experiments w/ the EX41.
It has been well tested vs. aero forces....against hydro & variable current forces? That's so relative to so many varying factors....like direction & speed of current, your car & those around you; duration of force subjection; the flood debris & their possible collisions; & etc, etc....
There's an added advantage the relocator brings aside from making the M3 look more pleasing & proper.....It can serve as savior.....
Think of the relocator as a string around your finger to remind you to save your car from damaging floods.......
Post-flood detailing is costlier than the hobo relocator + the Php450 LTO plate.....how much more if you grow electronic gremlins, engine trouble or bar you,......total flood damage????![]()
We should worry about those more than the plate or the relocator's flood-survival prowess.
Why risk?
Thanks for reiterating the concern, sir.🙏
Thanks, sir.
Please don't mistake the aero as wind tunnel testing.Haha...Just some long term real conditions driving, sir.....
My prototype kit has kept my hobo company for a lil over a year & more than 15k km of countless scenic routes; mountain twisties; provincial straights; summer sunshine; downpour of lions & wolves; & speeds the hobo & roads here can allow together.
There has been no sign of aging nor wear. Still looking like day 1 here.![]()
Look what BBR UK has done for their 3 variants of M3 2.0Sky(120 PS, 145PS, 165PS)....
Pretty linear gains like the better priced custom remote OVT, which BBR isn't.
The latter also offers exhaust systems & sport springs.
For those looking into tunes, yes, there are piggyback systems out there, linear torque curves have been evasive so far. Pretty sure that will eventually be achieved.![]()
Maybe that kind of threat will work for Toyota or other manufacturer whose dealerships earn a significant chunk from the regular PMS. But Mazda/Berjaya Phils. offers Yojin3 and couple with their reluctance to offer discounts. Ikaw ang talo. Best deal I finagled from Toyota Commonwealth was a P30k discount on the Altis which is roughly the same price as a Mazda 3. Now assuming same mileage warranties and costs of casa PMS, at say P5k per PMS, you spend about the same P30k for the next 60,000km. So I don't think Berjayas pocketbook loses here.
If you were brave enough to wade through a flood, the plate number would be the last thing to worry about.
