Kung shoulder lang then that should be okay. I noticed nga that they were adding shoulders along Kennon road the last time i passed. If you drive up at night, just be careful when you hit the blind turns as there are cases where the road constructions don't have ample warning so baka mabulaga ka na may digging bigla after taking a familiar but blind curb at your usual pace (happened to me before... swerte ko lang as the digging was passable and smooth so i just drove through it with one side of the car on concrete and the other side on the digging)

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I don't want to start a new thread for a small question.

I need to be in Camp John Hay for a meeting on a Friday and my plate number ends in 9. My understanding is that number coding in Baguio is only implemented in the downtown area. So if from Kennon Road, I turn right to Loakan and enter John Hay from there, I will have no problem, right?

Yup, right turn at military cutoff rd. No coding there.

Thanks, falken, but according to the Baguio website, Military Cutoff Road also seems to be part of the coverage area. Maybe I'm just reading it wrong because the way it's written is pretty confusing.

What is the coverage area of the number coding scheme in Baguio?

Naguilian Road from junction of Bokawkan Road to the junction of Abanao Street-Abanao Street Extension to the junction of Yandoc Street-Yandoc Street-Legarda Road to BGH Circle-Kennon Road for BGH Circle to the Junction of Military Cut-Off Road-Military Cut-Off Road to Military Circle-South Drive from Military Circle to Teacher's Camp Road-M. Roxas Road to Trancoville Bridge-Bokawkan Road (Including part of Magsaysay Avenue below the Flyover) from the junction of La Trinidad Road and Trancoville Bridge to the junction of Naguilian Road.
    (the bolded part confuses me)

To be sure, maybe I should just turn right at Loakan near the airport? (I'm assuming Google maps is accurate as I've never actually driven to Baguio before).

^ On Kennon Road, turn right at Loakan Road (going to the airport/PMA). Follow Loakan past the Baguio EPZA then enter John Hay gate along Loakan Road.

as far as i know, non locals i.e. tourists, visitors, can get number coding exemption pass from any police station at Baguio City BEFORE entering the roads where number coding is implemented.

there is a police station ~35meters before the turn you mentioned.

    Oh????

Pwede pala yun? Any "requirements" needed by the local police force for us to get this special pass?

utang ko sayo yan sir, i'll try ko ask for details, then balikan kita...

Baguio and other places frequented by visitors/tourists should have coding exemption for visitors if they want to invite more.

Kennon road have some road repairs right now, but everything is manageable, even for night driving. Mga road expansions ang ginagawa- gutter, shoulders- medyo nilalaparan nila. Just passed Kennon at 4am kanina, ok naman, but of course, Kailangan pa rin ng ingat

To everyone who answered my question above, thanks. I forgot to to check this thread again hehe.

To anyone else curious about the coding scheme in Baguio, I found this somewhere and I'm reposting it here for whoever needs/wants it:

This always happens. Kung kelan naayos na ng halos buo yung Kennon, may darating na bagyo or matinding pag-ulan and then:

MANILA, Philippines – Landslides caused by Typhoon “Labuyo” prompted authorities to temporarily close Kennon Road to vehicles heading in and out of Baguio City on Monday, a Radyo Inquirer 990AM report said.
The report said the Department of Public Works and Highways advised Baguio-bound motorists to instead take Marcos Highway or Naguilian Road after Kennon Road was closed at 10 a.m. because of landslides and falling rocks.
Citing Benguet Vice Governor Nelson Dangwa and the Philippine National Police, Inquirer Baguio (*inquirer_baguio) posted on Twitter that Ampusongan-Sinipsip, Bokod-Kabayan and Baguio-Nueva Vizcaya roads were also closed due to landslides.
The DPWH told the public to cancel long trips, especially in typhoon-affected areas, to avoid road accidents.

We plan to go this weekend. bukas na kaya ang kennon after d landslides during typhoon labuyo? This will be my 1st time driving up there so we go at daytime. Just to have an idea for comparison, is the incline, curves, & road size similar with Emi road in Quezon (quezon national park)? Its just me & my wife on a 1.3 vios.

Yes, just about it but it's longer. I suggest you take Marcos hi-way as it's wider and not much zigzag as to Kenon. Baka gumapang yang 1.3 vios mo as you approach Lion head and beyond as that's the stiffest area of the route. Pabalik, you can take Kenon na.

Kaya ng vios yang kennon, no problem. Tricycle nga umaakyat ng kennon may 5 passengers at sako ng bigas sa roof e.

mas malapad ang marcos pero mas malayo. And for me mas matarik yung hairpin turns sa marcos. Sa kennon isa lang yung matarik na hairpin.

FX na 1.5L (all 64hp of it), nakakaakyat sa Kennon.

I suggest early morning (not later than 4am) kayo aalis ng QC para daytime na nasa akyatan kayo. Baka mahirapan ka pag abutan kayo ng madilim sa paakyat at lalo first time.

Thanks for the reply. Sa Kennon na kami dadaan. Kung hindi umuulan, as I've read sa previous posts.

I'm thinking alis ng 5am, but coming from San Jose City coz may puntahan pa kami dun a day before. I'll still be asking folks there how to get to Baguio, pero nakita ko na sa Google maps na may way going thru Pangasinan.
