They opened up the one way portion at La Union last night so it was okay when I passed it.
Roads are bad though so it was a good thing I brought a big car. Naawa ako sa mga nag long drive ng mga New cars nila.

We went through our plan of going to Baguio last Dec 26th but we took the Pugo-Marcos highway instead of Kennon Road. I asked bakasyonista from Baguio and they said also they the Marcos hi-way they're not confident in Kennon Road that time due to frequent rains. It was smooth traffic and weather.
Sarap pasabugin no?
I left Baguio at past 9am on the 30th and we were having lunch in Clark, Pampanga by 12nn. Took the Kennon - Magilas - Cuyapo/Guimba - Pura - TPLEX - SCTEX route. Sa backroads, ingat lang when you approach bridges as usually panget ang dips and as Yebo mentione before, the Guimba - Pura road is cracked up but still bearable for moderate speeds.
Will be going up to Baguio next week. To those who had gone up recently, would like to know how the road condition is especially in Pangasinan. Is Kennon ok? Or is it better to pass Marcos Hiway?
Tarlac - portions are still being widened, especially nearing the border of Pangasinan.
Pangasinan - Villasis - Urdaneta - further up, road widening and re-blocking in full swing. Some portions are closed, so one way traffic is observed (buhos-buhos). Adding to that, they're cutting those century old acacia trees along the roadside too.
Kenon is ok, some portions are also being repaired. IIRC its the section between camp 2 and 3. Your choice on what road to use provided taking into consideration natural issues (rain, fog, etc.)
Nga pala, in TPLEX, you can exit all the way to Paniqui, Tarlac. I just dont know how much yung toll.
nakakainis lang somewhere in pangasinan, may traffic build up sa highway(nagcommute lang ako by bus from Baguio). yun pala may tricycle pala sa pinakaunahan ayaw tumabi.
Marcos kami paakyak (9PM) may mga konting trucks along the way. Kennon pababa (4PM), ingat sa mga nag-oovertake mostly SUV or VANs.Quote Originally Posted by soyuz1234 View Post

Six adults? Kinda crowded unless the sixth person rides in the trunk.
Anyway, I think you can do it in 50 to 60 liters of fuel if you drive conservatively on the level portions
Isang fulltank lang! Balikan na, dumaan pa kaming Manaoag Church, kasama na ang two days stroll around Baguio city and major tourists spots. Nice experience, sarap bumalik.
Hi! Punta kami ng family ko sa Baguio sa January 31. First time ko mag-drive papunta dun. Mejo familiar naman ako hanggang SCTEX.
Any updates on the road condition?
Kennon or Marcos Highway? I plan to leave LB, Laguna around 2am so it will be daytime already once I arrove in Tarlac and Pangasinan.
Any suggested route from SCTEX?
Thanks!
Derechohin mo lang yung SCTEX sir, wagka mag exit dugtong kasi nun ang TPLEX. We went there parang Panaqui yung current final exit. Tapos yung Mc-Arthur Hiway all the way.
Went up to Baguio last week via NLAX-SCTEX-TPLEX-Kennon. Pauwi just reverse it.
Matindi ang mga one way sa banda pangasinan dahil sa road construction so if you can I suggest you leave during the day kasi sa gabi aside from low visibility, kasabay mo pa mga truck na mabagal kaya mahirap mag overtake.
Took me 4.5hrs paakyat, left QC around lunch time. Pabalik almost 6hrs, left Baguio 5pm.
HTH.

And yes Paniqui ang last stop so far ng TPLEX. Mahirap lang pabalik kelangan matandaan mo yung kanto paliko ng TPLEX wala pa masyado signages. So nung alam ko na nasa Paniqui na ako alert na ako to look for that sign. Plywood lang na may pintura.
Brought a 4x4 AT pickup. Nagfull tank ako in QC bago umakyat. 595km traveled kasama ikot sa Baguio pero actually distance from QC to Baguio is just around 250km. Di ako nag gas up sa Baguio kasi I still have enough diesel pa naman. Sakto lang pagdating ko sa QC tsaka umilaw ang warning sa fuel gauge. Remember though that the truck Im driving has an 80liter tank capacity.

Almost 80 liters sa 595 km! Wow gastos pala sa diesel ang 3.2 engine! But how was the wildtrak sa baguio? How about going down, maganda ba ang engine braking qualities nya or did you have to step on the brakes often when on 4th gear and up? I assume you put the a/t in manual mode going down.
Sir exact liters of diesel used was 67liters on a 595km trip giving me fuel efficiency of 8.9km/l on an AT 4x4. Di sya sir Ford Ranger. I brought a Nissan Navara.
Went up also to Mt. Sto. Tomas and sometimes had to use 4low. Traffic in baguio is sometimes worse in Manila also.
I try to limit the use of breaks when going down so I just put it in 2 or 1 gear on an AT.

If you take Kennon road careful also with this steep bend just before the Lion's head. Nag tokyo drift ako dun since I approched the curve relatively faster on the way up and there was a water delivery truck ahead dripping water which made the road slippier. Good thing di ako tumututok sa unahan ko and I was also able yo counter the skid.
Di naman pudpod gulong ko. Me driving a pickup with relatively lighter back end might also be a factor.
