Next week pa (first weekend of Feb.). Nainggit ako kay IMm29. :D I usually leave after work, around 8pm and i get to Baguio anytime between 11:30-1:00am depending on my pace and stopovers. Going home i usually leave early in the morning (5am) so i'm back in Manila for a nice hot breakfast.

My favorite driving day to Baguio is Good Friday. Save for having to slow down for those carrying crosses on the highway, you can do the trip in an easy 3 hours or so (as in you're just cruising at 80-120kph, no hard overtakes or high speed runs, very little cars and trikes to pass). I also tried driving up to Baguio via Pampanga - Subic - Zambales - Pangasinan - La Union... veeerrryyy nice drive but it will take up almost a whole day. One of my last road trips with my dad before he moved on.

Long way round ... I heard maganda ang road conditions sa route na yan, and less road traffic too.

The scenic route? I'm sure your Dad appreciated that road trip.

Maybe I can do the night drive when I'm more familiar with the route. It's been too long since my last trip to Baguio, so I'll definitely appreciate seeing where I'm going.

So basically you drive to Baguio and immediately go back to Manila ?

If that were me, a whole day of work and drive for 6 hrs + at night with no sleep. I might drive over the proverbial cliff, if that were me. :D

I used to do that with my dad as we enjoyed going on road trips as a father-son thing; We wake up one morning with nothing on our schedules and decide to drive up, have a good dinner and dessert, stay overnight in Baguio, then leave the next morning for Manila once again. Lalo na pag may bagong kotse or second hand project sa garahe, who can't resist.

If i'm with my family though, we usually stay up for 3-4 days. We don't really go around much... we just hang around where we stay and do DVD marathons, cook, go out to eat, or take a drive.

The Zamba - Pangasinan road is a nice, scenic route with good roads and nice straights where you can floor the pedal.

When SCTEX opened, I would do this for a "fresh strawberries, vegetables and BCC bread only" run.

Pards, why is it when you say "fresh strawberries" i get this feeling regulars on this board get a different connotation?

Kaya naman balikan ang Baguio. Did this during the New Year. Out of nowhere, biglang nag-aya ang tatay ko na mag-Baguio. We left Marilao at 10AM, then arrived at SM Baguio at around 4PM, so 6 hours. Quite long kasi na-stuck kami sa Isdaan ng almost 2 hours dahil sa tagal dumating ng order namin. We took Kennon Road by accident (ayaw ng nanay ko doon dahil sa mga horror stories ng kalsada). Just spent 3 hours there and left at around 7pm. We arrived at Bulacan at 11:30PM. This time, we took Marcos Highway route.

    Going to:
NLEX - SCTEX exit at La Paz - McArthur - Kennon

    Going back
    Baguio - Palispis - McArthur - SCTEX - NLEX
