jeanpierre, have you figured out how to use the phone control unit mounted on the steering wheel? mine does not yet use bluetooth technology. tried it several times before but couldn't make it work. is it supposed to overide the sorento's sound system when you call or when you receive a call? thanks.

Korean phones are not GSM-based. They are CDMi. The phone facility of the Hyundai Starex also does not work locally.

I think its a simple wired connection to any mobile phone having a 2.5mm jack that triggers a speaker phone on which then rechannel its outputs to the car speakers...

It worked with my Nokia 6600 but not with my Treo 680...

Mine worked too when I'm still using the older model Nokia phone and I believe it will work on any phone as long as they have the 2.5mm jack for the headphones. I'm not using it now 'coz can't find an adapter that will fit on my Moto V3i's headphone socket. I don't know if the connecting cable between the phone and the handsfree plug got something to do with the malfunction of the handsfree system since my cable is already there when I bought my Sorento. To activate when making a call, simply dial the number and press the handsfree button on the steering control. When the HU is being used, pressing the handsfree button will change the volume automatically prioritizing the handsfree function. Receiving a call, simply press the normal button you press on your phone when receiving a call and then press the handsfree control on your steering. Hope this helps.

Haha, mukang marami na tayong experiences na ganyan. Saken it happens mostly sa Katipunan, North Expressway and sa Fairview. Hindi pa VGT version saken pero may sunroof, powerbrakes and headlight washers. Nakaka-asar nga kasi when I had this unit eh una pag nasa highway ka may isang SUV or pick-up truck na tatabi sayo at parang sinusukatan ka then next thing you know eh hahatawan ka na sa gilid, syempre you don't like to dissapoint the opposing driver kaya hahatawan mo na rin, malay mo na mas malakas pala ang makina ng Sorento mo kaysa sa Fortuner, Alterra, 07 CR-V, 07 Ranger, Fieldmaster, Everest, Rav 4, Santa Fe, Tucson, Tribute nila. Yan na ang mga nakipag compete saken na natalo pasalamat ako at maganda ang transmission ko. My dad already has a VGT version I'll try to get a pic of if at ang naalala ko is that iba yung layout ng intercooler and turbo. I'll ask my dad kung pwede mag swap kami?

But from what I remember marami rin sa Europe na suvs that have a smaller displacement diesel but has more hp. Mayrun mga 2.0L tdi/crdi suvs doon na nakaka 180hp and 400nm torque.

    Hi Everyone,
One time, when I was having our picanto serviced, I was asking the service advisor about specific ATF for our Sorento, I was surprised that he answered differently, he said Dexron II/III but for the AT 5 speed sorento (A5SR1 model transmission) it's APOLLOIL ATF RED-1. We had a short debate about it, and later he admitted he was wrong because when he went to stockroom to get one, it was what I mentioned. Unfortunately for me, the price per liter is 1k+ and for our transmission its 11 liters (my gulay).. Later on, he was saying that our transmission with its fluid was designed to be for life.. Is this true?
Tried checking again the internet, it would seem that this fluid is only sourced out from Kia...

Mas grabe ka pala Gun_metal. Dami mo na nakahatawan. Pati kapatid ng Sorento natin tinalo mo. Di kita masisi kasi masarap talaga ihataw ang Sorento. Maganda ang matching ng body at transmission. Yong VGT Sorento, matagal na inaabangan dito sa pinas. Sa grey market din ba nabili ng dad mo? Yeah picture naman. Mas matindi siguro ihataw VGT Sorento ano?

Is this APOLLO OIL ATF RED-1 not a synthetic type of ATF oil kaya mahal? Baka same sa engine ba na pwede naman ang normal type oil but since gusto natin more protection, we opted to use the synthetic oil which is more expensive. It's surprising kasi since Dextron II/III is the most widely used ATF in the market eh.

I am not sure, whether its synthetic or not, but based on my research over net, it's something similar or used for cvt's. Here's an explanation - http://www.i-car.com/html_pages/tech...7/062507.shtml . There was even a mention that the new Nissan Murano, also has an ATF similar to this, but has a little variance..

Hayaan mo gregg_g I'll check with Wheels tungkol sa oil pagbalik ko dyan. May kamahalan talaga ang price though di naman ganon ka dalas magpalit ng trans oil eh. Honda ko nga 60K na di pa napalitan auto trans oil eh. I hope na sa Sorento natin "fill for life" type sya.

may naka palit na ba sa mga sorento users ng ATF nila? if wala pa try nyo ask paano palitan. As I mentioned earlier in the thread it seems to be a very difficult process.

Ok. To the others can you check in your manual, when is the scheduled servicing of the ATF? There is an R in the 80k km, in my manual, and this is in Korean, hopefully I am correct..

gregg, my owner's manual is also in korean hence I can't tell also. nonetheless, i checked various internet sources and got these differing maintenance figures.

    year model maintenance intervals
    2005 48,000 km (24 mos.)
    2006 32,000 km (16 mos.)
    2007 32,000 km (16 mos.)

please note that these figures are for the sorento v6 gas variant but i assume that it has the same tranny as the diesel variant. is this correct assumption?

ATF is indeed Apolloil ATF Red 1k. Dexron III is for the 4wd transfer case and it is indeed meant for the life of the vehicle.

    hope this helps.
